US Employment Litigation Counsel

Litigation professionals support Accenture's business, minimize risk and engage in dispute resolution related to employment compliance with federal and state laws and company policies; provide specialized and deep areas of expertise relative to employment litigation issues; and coordinate legal advice related to employment disputes.

The Employment Litigation Counsel serves as a legal advisor to internal stakeholders regarding complex employee relations issues and compliance matters. This role will be focused on employment litigation throughout the US reporting into the North American Employment Litigation Lead.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as legal advisor regarding employment litigation and disputes involving US federal, state, and local employment laws with emphasis on compliance and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Provide legal expertise to resolve complex employee relations and litigation matters.

  • Have knowledge regarding FLSA employment classifications and overtime matters.

  • Provide legal expertise relative to disputes alleging discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, state individual and collective wage-and-hour claims and other employment-related claims.

  • Assess and have knowledge regarding employment-related regulatory and compliance initiatives.

  • Develop and manage outside counsel relationships.

  • Support business and provide dispute resolution for employment-related claims arising from acquisitions.

  • Stay abreast of legal developments affecting the company, its clients, and industries and recommend changes to company’s practices as needed in light of employment litigation trends.

Basic Qualifications

  • Law Degree / Juris Doctor

  • Active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing employment litigation as an attorney

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience advising management of large companies.

  • Ability to work with personnel both internally and externally across the world.

  • Experience assessing collective wage and hour claims, as well as worker classifications, including strong working knowledge of the FLSA and independent contractor law and analogous provisions of state law.

  • Experience advising on and conducting HR investigations.

  • In-depth knowledge of employment law across the United States.

  • Demonstrates sound judgment, ability to prioritize and make decisions, and identify risks.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to influence with a strong executive presence.

  • Skilled in dispute resolution.

  • Responsive and follows through on commitments, with a sense of urgency.

  • Strong time management, prioritization, and ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.

  • Highly organized with attention to accuracy and detail.

  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently as well as within teams.

  • Ability to work in a matrixed leadership environment and as strong cross-functional partner.

Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York or Washington as set forth below.
