Job Summary
The Design Director works autonomously, leads a team, and brings the vision of multiple projects to life with little or no oversight. The Design Director works closely with the co-leaders across departments and with clients, thinking on a higher level about how best to drive the business. Internally, the Design Director is a key contributor to the department and agency culture, and a mentor to shape more junior designers’ careers. Their work is consistent in excellence and originality.
Job Responsibilities

Oversee multiple pieces of business at once, effectively managing time and delegating work

Manage staff, both in reviewing work and in guiding their career development and growth

Think beyond the campaign, always looking towards a bigger vision and developing comprehensive ecosystems of work

Forge strong client relationships, and establish full client trust in your instincts and decisions
-
Continually push work beyond the status quo; and motivate and challenge all departments to go above what is expected

See all briefs as opportunities and drive members of team from all departments to take the work a step above
-
Work with other disciplines (e.g., Account Management, Operations, Strategy, Project Management, Creative, UX, Design, Interactive Technology) to determine scopes and project requirements
Basic Qualifications
-
Portfolio or samples of work demonstrating smart, brand-building designs and executions
Preferred Qualifications
-
7+ years of design experience at a Design firm, Advertising Agency or related industry
-
Prior creation of award-winning or breakthrough work
-
Experience managing individuals and teams of people. Collaborative and team oriented
-
Ability to multi-task across multiple pieces of business and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

Strong interpersonal skills to work internally and with clients
-
Understanding of design process, beyond just campaign work
-
Expert proficiency in Photoshop and InDesign, and any new and emerging design-specific software
-
Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills for effective communication to clients, internal staff and management

Expert production experience
