The Opportunity

The Research and AI team builds foundational generative AI models and applications for Adobe products, enabling customers to ideate, build, and scale content in new ways.

The role of Principal PM involves defining and advancing foundational generative capabilities in image and video. These building blocks support Adobe's creative offerings for professionals, creators, and businesses. You will build capabilities that impact every segment of the Adobe ecosystem, from photo editing in Photoshop to ad creation in Express. This is a technical, influential position at the intersection of applied science and product development. You will work closely with model researchers to explore new possibilities and align with surface teams to deliver capabilities that enhance customer outcomes.

What you'll Do

  • Define and lead the roadmap for core generative AI capabilities across various customer segments and product areas.
  • Work alongside model researchers to guide research direction, set quality benchmarks, and transform early-stage capabilities into market-ready requirements.
  • Develop deep customer insights by interpreting needs from creative professionals, creators, and business users into strategic decisions.
  • Work together with Adobe product partners to guarantee smooth integration and tangible customer results.
  • Build an evidence-based view on quality, cost, and latency, making strategic tradeoff decisions.
  • Provide expert feedback on model quality and build scalable evaluation frameworks.
  • Analyze the competitive landscape and find opportunities to differentiate.
  • Establish feedback loops to ensure customer value is realized.

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of product management experience, particularly in AI/ML or research environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge to engage with model researchers about architecture, quality metrics, and tradeoffs.
  • Authentic understanding of varied user requirements and the skill to convert them into practical approaches.
  • Detailed problem solver with the ability to connect individual capabilities to a broader platform.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills to drive alignment across teams.
  • Comfort operating in research environments with evolving success definitions and timelines.
  • In-depth understanding of the GenAI landscape and its future trajectory.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with generative imaging or video models.
  • Experience building tools for creatives and designers.

Expected Pay Range:

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $148,100 -- $282,100 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.

In New York, the pay range for this position is $194,800 - $282,100


At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
