DESCRIPTION

Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented technology lawyer to fill the position of Senior Corporate Counsel to support Amazon Web Services, a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. This Senior Corporate Counsel will support Amazon Web Services principally across the Americas as well as provide global support for certain industry verticals. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the cloud computing and service industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, browsers and more.

This position will primarily support AWS's Sales, Marketing, and Business Development teams, negotiating strategic, enterprise and technology license agreements and assisting with marketing and business development initiatives, and global expansion. This candidate will have primary transactional drafting and negotiation responsibilities on complex, high value agreements, and provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for senior executives and other business team members. This candidate will also be expected to participate in other Amazon legal projects as directed, including the administration and resolution of legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 10+ years of legal experience as attorney (with several experience years at a law firm or in-house experience), including significant specialized transactional experience in the financial services sector
• J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in one state bar.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bank regulatory compliance experience is a strong plus
• Familiar with IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications or cloud computing services
• Strong background in technology/content licensing and the ecommerce industry
• In-house experience at a financial services, technology, or internet company

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $146,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
