Are you interested in helping customers accelerate their business by modernizing their applications from Mainframes to AWS? Do you have the business savvy, technical background, and sales experience necessary to help customers understand the value of these projects, position AI and Gen AI solutions to drive business outcomes, and gain confidence to move forward with them?

AWS is seeking a Solution Architect to work closely with in close partnership with sales leaders, account teams, Partners, and Professional Services.
The WWSO Mainframe Application Modernization team positions AWS as the best place to run Mainframe workloads. Our team helps customers migrate Mainframe Application and data to the AWS cloud while providing a secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure for customers to innovate and unlock new potential. You partner with technical and business teams across AWS and bring the voice of the customer into our product development roadmap. The WW team sees the big picture and sets the plan so the world’s most customer obsessed technical teams can make history.
The Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) is part of AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS), which is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. We work backwards from our customer’s most complex and business critical problems to build and execute go-to- market plans that turn AWS ideas into multi-billion-dollar businesses.

Key job responsibilities
- Represent the voice of the customer; bring customer feedback to product teams to influence feature development and future product roadmap.
- Provide advanced technical knowledge to your domain aligned GTM teams to unblock our customers’ largest and most critical business challenges.
- Act as a thought leader sharing best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures and public-speaking events such as AWS Summit, AWS re: Invent, etc.
- Partner with Business Development teams to define the technical components of best in class GTM concepts, solutions, and initiatives.
- Develop and support an AWS internal community of technical subject matter experts worldwide. Create field enablement materials for the broader SA population, to help them understand how to integrate Amazon Web Services solutions into customer architectures.

A day in the life

As a Mainframe Specialist Solutions Architect at AWS, you’ll build technical relationships with customers of all sizes and develop solutions to accelerate their cloud migration journey. You will operate as their trusted advisor, ensuring they get the most out of the cloud at every stage of their journey. You will engage with senior customer leaders and technical stakeholders to help them achieve increased agility and significant business value by advising and defining their migration approach to the cloud.

You’ll manage the overall technical relationship between AWS and our customers, making recommendations on security, cost, performance, reliability, optimization, and operational efficiency to accelerate their large scale Migration projects.

Internally, you will be the voice of the customer, sharing their needs and wants to inform the roadmap of AWS features. Externally, the Mainframe Migration Specialist Solutions Architect works with large enterprises, helping them effectively lead their migration readiness assessment and migration and modernization strategy.

As part of WWSO, you'll provide expertise across the entire life cycle of an AWS customer initiative, from developing ideas for new services to accelerating the adoption of established businesses.
