Description
The Amazon Finance Organization seeks a Senior Finance Analyst to deliver high-quality financial analysis, reporting, and decision support across a dynamic and fast-paced finance function. This position reports to a Finance Manager and operates without direct reports, focusing on rigorous analytical execution, controllership, and cross-functional business partnership.
The successful candidate brings deep finance expertise, a track record of building and maintaining complex financial models, and the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights. They will own core financial deliverables including variance analysis, KPI dashboards, and periodic close activities, while supporting OP1/OP2 planning cycles and contributing to process improvement initiatives. This role demands strong business judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the discipline to operate with high accuracy at scale.
Key job responsibilities
1. Financial Analysis & Reporting
– Variance Analysis: Compare actuals to plan and forecast; identify drivers and communicate findings clearly to finance and business stakeholders.
– KPI Dashboards: Build and maintain KPI dashboards and reporting mechanism that surface performance trends and actionable insights.
– Close Activities: Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations with accuracy and on schedule.
– Ad Hoc Analysis: Respond to ad hoc financial requests with timely, accurate analysis to support decision-making across the business.
2. Financial Modeling & Decision Support
– Model Development: Build and maintain financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, scenario analysis, and investment evaluation.
– OP1/OP2 Support: Support the annual operating plan (OP1) and mid-year operating plan (OP2) processes.
– Forecast Management: Maintain short-range and long-range forecasts, incorporating business updates and flagging risks and opportunities.
3. Business Partnership & Stakeholder Support
– Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with program managers, operations, and technology teams to understand business context and translate it into accurate financial plans and reporting.
– Finance Liaison: Serve as a key finance contact for assigned business areas, providing clear financial insights and supporting prioritization decisions.
– Communication: Prepare well-structured financial narratives and presentations for finance leadership and business stakeholders.
