Software Development Manager, Security Hub
Software Engineering · Full-time
Description
AWS Security Hub is a new unified cloud security solution that prioritizes customers' critical security issues and helps them respond at scale. It detects issues by automatically correlating and enriching security signals from multiple sources — posture management, vulnerability management (Amazon Inspector), sensitive data (Amazon Macie), and threat detection (Amazon GuardDuty) — then turns complex signals into actionable insights through intuitive visualizations and automated response workflows.
Every one of those insights reaches a customer through an interface — and the interface decides whether they act on it. We're looking for a Software Development Manager to lead the frontend team that builds it, across Security Hub and the broader AWS security services family.
Our biggest bet right now is agentic CX: reimagining how security teams investigate and respond with AI at the center. That means a brand-new web app built around agentic workflows, and an MCP app that brings Security Hub into customers' own AI workflows. Alongside that, your team owns the console experiences for 5 independent public facing services — rare breadth for a frontend org, and a lot of surface area to shape.
You'll lead a tight-knit, distributed team of frontend engineers, working alongside principal engineers and senior frontend engineers who set the technical bar. You'll own hiring and growth as the team scales, partner with product and design on a large roadmap, and drive decisions on architecture, frameworks, and AI implementation strategy. Development here is AI-assisted by default, meetings are light, and work lands with customers fast.
You don't need a security background to succeed. What you do need is a genuine interest in working at the bleeding edge of frontend and AI, the ability to build and grow a team while shipping, and the desire to have fun doing it — all while delighting customers with the experiences you deliver.
Key job responsibilities
- Own delivery, quality, and roadmap for the frontend team's portfolio: the new agentic web app, the MCP app, and the console experiences for Security Hub and other Security Services.
- Hire, onboard, and grow frontend engineers across experience levels as the team scales against a big roadmap.
- Develop your engineers deliberately — assign projects based on what will make each person a better-rounded engineer and ready for more complex work, particularly in emerging AI areas.
- Partner with principal and senior frontend engineers on technical direction: architecture, frameworks, AI integration strategy, and the patterns that make agentic experiences trustworthy and fast.
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to align on API contracts and sequencing before build, and to keep five services' worth of experiences coherent.
- Champion AI-Native development across the team — raising the bar on how the team uses LLMs and AI tooling to ship faster without affecting quality.
- Own operational excellence for production AWS console surfaces: availability, performance, accessibility, on-call health, and launch readiness.
- Represent the team's plans and results to senior leadership, and protect the team's focus and work-life balance while doing it.
About the team
We are the frontend team for AWS Security Hub and the broader security services family, owning the console experiences for AWS Security Services. We're a tight-knit group across Seattle, New York, and Boston, working alongside principal and senior frontend engineers who mentor and set the technical bar. Sitting at the intersection of more than five public facing services, we shape how millions of security signals become clear, actionable experiences. Our biggest bet right now is agentic CX — next-gen UX that redefines how customers do security operations.
