About the Role

As an Account Executive (Closer) at Baton, your job is both simple and demanding: turn qualified valuation conversations into signed sale agreements, while building a deep understanding of how small and mid-market M&A actually works.

You’ll lead valuation review calls, guide owners through Baton’s M&A process and pricing, and help them navigate real decisions around liquidity, timing, and deal structure. Along the way, you’ll develop fluency in how buyers think, how businesses are valued, and what truly drives successful exits.

This role requires strong execution- handling objections, managing follow-ups, and moving deals forward with urgency and professionalism- but it also offers a front-row seat to the mechanics of selling real businesses.

It’s ideal for someone who thrives in structured pipelines, is comfortable with high-stakes, real-money conversations, and is motivated to learn the fundamentals of M&A while earning at a high level through performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead valuation review calls with small business owners, clearly explaining pricing, market dynamics, and Baton’s sale process

  • Own opportunities from valuation through signed sale agreement (SSA), managing follow-up, handling objections, and driving deals to close

  • Build a practical understanding of small and mid-market M&A, including how businesses are valued, how buyers assess risk, and what drives successful exits

  • Guide founders through timing, expectations, and trade-offs, helping them make confident, informed decisions about selling their business

  • Maintain strong pipeline hygiene and forecasting discipline, ensuring deals progress predictably and data is accurate

  • Partner closely with RevGen, Ops, and Leadership to improve conversion, surface learnings, and refine playbooks based on real deal outcomes

  • Continuously improve your approach through coaching, feedback, and performance review, applying insights directly to live deals

    What You’ll Bring

  • 1–3 years of closing experience in sales, account management, or a transactional role.

  • Comfort leading real-money, high-stakes conversations with business owners or decision-makers

  • Strong interest in learning M&A and valuation fundamentals through hands-on deal exposure

  • Ability to operate effectively in a structured, metrics-driven environment with clear goals and accountability

  • Clear, confident communicator who can explain complex ideas simply and credibly

  • Coachable, resilient, and motivated by performance-based compensation and progression

  • Willingness to work in-person at Baton’s NYC HQ (Flatiron) as part of a highly collaborative team

Why Baton

  • Mission-driven work: empowering entrepreneurs and shaping the future of small business transitions.

  • A collaborative, data-driven, and growth-oriented culture.
