What’s the role?

Bloomberg’s Regulatory Policy Group is dedicated to creating balanced regulation that protects investors, increases competition, and the transparency, resiliency, and stability of markets. The Regulatory Policy Group is looking to add a member with an understanding of U.S. fixed income trading protocols, U.S. fixed income market structure, FINRA TRACE and Bloomberg's fixed income electronic trading products.

We are looking for a candidate to serve as a researcher to assist in Bloomberg's Government Relations and Regulatory Policy Group either in Washington DC or New York. You will be responsible for monitoring regulatory and legislative developments on a wide range of issues as well as conducting research and analysis. Work may include research and writing on long-term projects, producing short, timely memos describing hearings or meetings, and conducting in-depth research on nascent financial services issues. Subject areas will be varied, but work on financial services, capital markets and environmental issues will predominate. Qualified candidates must have strong research and writing skills.

We'll trust you to:

  • Conduct research and analysis on regulatory and legislative developments
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries
  • Draft comment letters and position pieces
  • Engage with advocacy organizations as necessary
  • Work cross collaboratively across business units to complete projects of varying scope and duration
  • Attend meetings and hearings to provide updates to leadership and internal stakeholders
  • Stay apprised of emerging regulatory issues and legislative developments across the broader financial services space as well as within issue portfolio

You'll need to have:

  • At least 3 years of relevant regulatory or government relations experience, preferably at a financial regulator, on the Hill, or working on Wall Street
  • Knowledge and understanding of the regulatory and policy issues surrounding financial market participants
  • Familiarity with the agency rulemaking and legislative process
  • Written and oral communication skills, demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills, creative and resourceful problem solver
  • Willingness to collaborate with a wide variety of internal professionals, including engineers, software developers, product development, sales, marketing, events, and other teams

We'd love to see:

  • Prior advocacy work involving research and writing or policy papers, comment letters and advocacy pieces
  • Experience in financial services or in researching/monitoring Congress or regulatory agencies
  • General understanding of federal regulatory agency structure as well as state and local governments
  • Familiarity with open-source research methods
  • Outstanding organizational skills

Salary Range: 70,000 - 95,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
