Our Team: The Futures and Options (F&O) Group is responsible for ingestion pipelines, data, and analytics for exchange-traded futures, options, and strategies. These financial instruments include a wide variety of products ranging from commodities like crude oil, coffee, crops, and metals to financial derivatives like interest rates, bonds, and currency exchange rates. The accuracy and reliability of the data we manage is vital for many areas of Bloomberg. The F&O team needs to ensure that the data is of high quality. Exchanges continue to list ever more sophisticated instruments and our data pipelines need to process these in real-time. Our data is accessed a lot; the Bloomberg Application Services (BAS) service in front of our main data store is one of the top hit BAS services in Bloomberg. We work closely with many teams, including but not limited to Data, Feeds, Tickerplant, Enterprise, PORT, Trading Solutions, Data Technologies.

As a F&O Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for writing high performance, efficient, and scalable code using proprietary and open source technologies to develop large-scale systems. You will get a chance to develop and enhance high throughput data systems, macro and micro analytic engines, search, calculations, and scalable systems that cater to billions of requests per day.  Refer to {SHOW Futures and Options } for more information.

You’ll need to have:

  • 4+ years of experience working with an object-oriented programming language (C/C++, Java, etc.)
  • Willingness to work (and learn) C++
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, similar field of study or equivalent work experience
  • An understanding of Computer Science fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms
  • Prior contributions to system design and architecture and scaling fault-tolerant, distributed systems 

We’d love to see:

  • Financial domain knowledge and experience; or the willingness to learn
  • Project leadership experience
  • Working experience in an Agile environment
  • Functional understanding of complex distributed systems architecture, high performance systems, scalable platforms, search databases, point-in-time historical data systems, macro and micro analytics, data query and manipulation languages, and time series analytics
  • Familiarity with or working knowledge of Python, C++, Apache Solr, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Hbase, Kafka, Microservice Based Architecture

Salary Range: 160,000 - 240,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
