Clients of Bloomberg require access to multiple exchanges around the world not just for the market data information that you see in the Terminal, but also for executing orders on those markets. Bloomberg systems offer this access through Order Management Systems and Execution Management Systems. For those client orders to be sent directly to the exchange, a connection must be developed that conforms to the API of the exchange and is authorized to be used by clients. Building these connections is the work of the Venue Trading Connectivity (VTC) Engineering group.

VTC is a globally distributed group with teams in Hong Kong, Pune, and Frankfurt. Our mission is to be the single provider of exchange and execution venue connectivity for all Bloomberg systems trading externally. We provide these ‘exchange gateways’ to multiple internal OMS/EMS systems. This includes Tradebook, TOMS/ETOMS, TSOX, AIM, EMSX, DASH, FIET, and more. What we offer is one implementation to a venue that can be used by all of these groups. There is no need for these groups to undertake the connectivity effort, as has been the case in the past, leaving them free to focus on their core business product and using the subject matter experts in VTC to develop and maintain the connectivity software to the market.

Since VTC has such a broad range of stakeholder users with different use cases for these connectivity gateways, we operate an engineering team model based on SCRUM and have a Product Owner embedded within each of the regional teams.

What’s in it for you?

We are looking for a product owner to shape and execute our vision and roadmap for venue trading connectivity. As a product owner, you'll work with our internal stakeholders to understand the business requirements, translate them to JIRA stories, and manage the build out of the product from inception to production. You'll work in a group of other product managers that work on a range of adjacent connectivity projects. You will interact very closely with our internal stakeholders from Product, Engineering, and Support. This is a high-leverage role in a very cross-functional environment, so you’ll need to be comfortable wearing many hats and balancing technical expertise with business acumen. This is an exciting and diverse role to work on, building multi asset connectivity covering multiple workflows across the globe.

We'll trust you to:

  • Convey the vision and goals at the beginning of every development project and sprint

  • Understand and communicate the customer requirements by engaging with Sales, Product, Engineering and customers directly

  • Ensure communication with the rest of the business which informs on development and project status and initiatives

  • Inspect the product progress at the end of every sprint and assume complete authority to accept or reject the work done

  • Collaborate with the team and align with the stakeholders throughout the entire release process

  • Ensure your team leader is informed of the backlog priority you have set in order to align with the company business strategy

  • Conduct appropriate business research to fully understand the business requirements of a given desired solution

  • Convert customer feature requests accurately into stories and ensure clear communication to development of the acceptance criteria for the requested features

You'll need to have:

  • Business proficiency in Mandarin; Cantonese skills also advantageous

  • Confirmed aptitude in business analysis, documentation

  • Project management skills and experience working with cross-functional teams - Scrum project management preferred

  • Strong communication skills - the ability to form relationships with both technical and business experts

  • Deep understanding of financial markets and trading workflows

  • Ability to quickly understand complex technical matters and communicate them succinctly

We'd love to see:
  • A good working understanding of FIX protocol and its use in trading
