The Financial Management Systems & Solutions team partners with stakeholders across Finance & Administration to support the strategic development and continual improvement of the applications, products and technologies that are the foundation of our most critical workflows. SAP is the core technology product for Finance, complemented by other intelligent solutions such as robotics process automation.
A large proportion of the team are solution architects, and they play an essential role between the core finance teams and the engineering teams, including assessing and documenting design requirements and driving the ultimate implementation of new or adapted solutions. This is incremental to the foundational responsibilities of maintaining a high performing, stable, and secure operating environment for financial solutions daily. The team also provides essential portfolio and program management for the key initiatives that align to our most important business goals and to prioritize a multi-year roadmap for Finance Management systems.
Bloomberg's Business and Portfolio Management team supports and establishes the frameworks (project/portfolio management, change management and agile/scrum) that drive the ways of working for our Finance & Administration and Technology departments. We engage directly with a variety of internal stakeholders including corporate accounting, finance operations, financial planning & analysis, corporate sustainability and corporate tax to understand their priorities and goals in both the medium and longer term, and most specifically to consider the optimal solutions that will support them in achieving their goals.
The Role:
We are looking for an accomplished Senior Business Manager to run our business-management function for Business and Portfolio Management within Financial Management Systems & Solutions. You will blend strategic thinking with operational excellence – helping to drive solutions for capacity & resource allocation, cost transparency, vendor strategy, data driven insights for a ~100 program portfolio that supports Finance & Administration and Technology globally.
We’ll trust you to:
- Build and maintain the capacity & resource allocation model that matches demand and business value across FMSS, Engineering and business partners.
- Track and regularly publish Total Cost of Ownership (run, grow, transform BOW) for SAP and adjacent platforms and optimization, surface optimization opportunities for leadership sign-off.
- Map and refine the FMSS Target Operating Model and Ways of Working – hand-offs, RACI and workflows across Finance, Operations, Technology and vendors – using agile, scrum and PM/CMO best practices.
- Drive FMSS budget and cost management annual planning, re-forecasting and scenario modeling; provide financial insights for senior level decision making.
- Coordinate all vendor-management activities – RFP/RFI, contracts, performance reviews, contract renewals, RFP/RFI’s and risk assessments; maximize value and contract flexibility.
- Champion Jira, Confluence, Teams usage standards and implement an integrated collaboration tool that gives leadership trusted insight into project status, risk, cost and value.
- Establish the framework and approach to drive consistent demand and resource planning management and reporting across the Financial Management Systems and Solutions and Engineering.
- Create transparency into FMSS third-party spend, performance and risk; enable data driven renegotiation or consolidation decisions
- Establish and run Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and co-author Strategic Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) for priority initiatives—partnering with Portfolio, Product, Business and Technology leaders; track outcome KPIs/KRI’s.
- Maintain a strong control environment with particular attention to access and change management controls for all finance systems.
- Own and continuously improve the Management Information System (MIS) that integrates financials, capacity, schedule and benefits into an authoritative source.
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Information Systems or equivalent
- 7+ years in business management, portfolio/program or finance operations – ideally withing a technology enabled environment
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Hands-on experience with capacity planning, budget/forecast cycles, total cost of ownership, and vendor governance.
- Strong analytical skills, SME working with large data sets and building visual dashboards (Alteryx, Power BI, Snowflake or similar)
- Excellent written and verbal communication; distilling complex topics for executive audiences
- Leadership facilitation experience to drive senior-level decision making through transparency and data/visualization
- Working knowledge of risk and controls disciplines (access, change, etc.)
We’d love to see:
- Background in driving automation initiatives (RPA, Low Code) or implementing collaboration tooling at scale.
- Exposure to large scale systems, technology changes or ERP platform transformation
- Experience in full lifecycle program management, cert in PMP, PMI, agile / Scrum or Prosci Change Management
- Understanding of Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Payroll, Supply Chain and Accounting processes
