Bloomberg

Brooklyn, NY, USA
Posted on Jul 1, 2025
Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis on financial markets, from real-time coverage through to in-depth enterprise. We are known for our quality, accuracy and ability to deliver news investors can use. It's what keeps us inventing and re-inventing, all the time.

We’re seeking an experienced photo editor with exceptional visual judgment and advanced proficiency in industry-standard editing tools including Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, FTP, and CMS/DAM systems. The position follows a Tuesday to Saturday schedule, with the option to work remotely one day per week.

As a photo editor, you'll be responsible for sourcing imagery for the Bloomberg Terminal and Bloomberg’s homepage, drawing from Bloomberg’s internal archives, third-party agencies, and web-based content using proprietary tools. Your work will illustrate a broad range of news stories and help elevate Bloomberg’s visual storytelling. You’ll also contribute to photo coverage assignments, edit and produce high-quality visuals, and craft thoughtful, accurate captions.

You thrive in fast-paced environments, have a sharp eye for impactful photography, and stay abreast of global news in business, finance, and politics. You believe strongly in the power of visuals to support exceptional journalism. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a dynamic team and contribute across nearly every Bloomberg platform, working with speed, accuracy, and editorial precision.

We’d like you to:
  • Consistently identify strong imagery that enhances breaking news and enterprise journalism
  • Collaborate closely with editors, reporters, and multimedia teams to support visual coverage strategies
  • Maintain a forward-looking awareness of photo trends, sources, and tools to improve editorial quality
  • Exhibit editorial intuition and independence when making quick decisions under deadline pressure
  • Serve as a cultural steward, ensuring all imagery reflects Bloomberg’s high standards of integrity and sensitivity
You’ll need to have:
  • At least 5 years of professional photo editing experience for digital platforms, including homepage and website curation
  • Strong proficiency in sourcing images from newswires and licensing services
  • In-depth knowledge of image licensing, usage rights, and legal considerations
  • Ability to swiftly interpret editorial content and pair it with powerful visual assets
  • Excellent sense of taste and editorial propriety with a strong awareness of cultural sensitivities
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills, especially in writing and editing captions
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a global newsroom and meet tight deadlines
  • Fluency with Slack for team communication and collaboration
  • A hands-on mentality and readiness to jump in and solve problems quickly
  • A strategic mindset with an eye toward evolving workflows and visual storytelling formats
  • Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
We’d love to see:
  • Experience with Premiere Pro or Final Cut, Adobe Illustrator and familiarity with audio editing
  • Background in graphic/web design, including HTML/CSS
  • Established relationships with a diverse network of photographers and videographers
