Bloomberg

Bloomberg

IT, Operations
New York, NY, USA
Posted on Aug 1, 2025

The mission of the Engineering COO Office is to engage with issues and risks that face the Engineering department as a whole and to design and implement appropriate interventions to mitigate or resolve them. These interventions usually require collaboration across the department and often require liaising with external departments as needed.

In support of this mission we:

  • Manage Engineering-initiated programs and projects that span the department

  • Collaborate with Engineering leaders to develop engineering-owned solutions to problems and drive adoption across the organization.

  • Design policies and thoughtfully drive compliance

  • Implement Engineering-wide change management initiatives

  • Fill gaps in the organization, owning processes that don't fit naturally in an Engineering department or require continuous collaboration across department boundaries

  • Represent Engineering as a stakeholder in externally-sponsored projects and serve as trusted communicators with clients and Bloomberg partners.

We are seeking a highly motivated Cloud FinOps Analyst to join our Data Center Optimization And Analysis Team, part of Engineering’s COO office. This role will serve as the financial steward of our cloud infrastructure, driving cost optimization, forecasting accuracy, and financial accountability across engineering and finance teams. You’ll partner closely with Public Cloud Engineering, Finance, Product and Procurement to ensure we get the most value out of every cloud dollar spent.

What’s In It For You?

  • Join an exciting team with an extensive pipeline of exciting work.

  • Deploy and maintain tools that are used by technical and business leaders across the firm.

  • An opportunity to join a small, highly impactful team supporting the largest department at Bloomberg.

  • Exposure to an expansive network within Engineering and other business units/departments.

We'll trust you to:

  • Analyze cloud usage patterns across all providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) to identify cost-saving opportunities such as rightsizing, reserved instances, autoscaling, and storage lifecycle policies.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports in QlikSense and other CSP native tools to communicate cloud costs, usage trends, and efficiency metrics.

  • Implement and enforce FinOps best practices, tagging strategies, and cost allocation models.

  • Collaborate with Product and Finance to build accurate cloud cost forecasts and monitor against budgets.

  • Maintain cost allocation models to support internal chargebacks or showbacks.

  • Drive FinOps capability maturity and continuous improvement efforts using available frameworks such as FinOps Foundation.

In order to be successful, you should have:

  • Experience working in a multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environment.

  • Familiarity with chargeback/showback models.

  • Experience with tagging strategy governance and compliance.

  • Ability to engage stakeholders to frame business challenges, uncover insights, and deliver data-driven visualizations that influence decision-making and drive outcomes.

  • Have strong communication, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

You’ll need to have:

  • 3+ years in a FinOps, Financial/Business Analyst, or Cloud Engineering role with a focus on cloud cost management.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, GCP billing and pricing models.

  • Familiarity with FinOps and cloud cost tools (e.g., CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability, Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer, Looker, Tableau).

  • Strong understanding of cloud budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis.

  • Ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets using SQL, Excel, QlikSense or Python.

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

We’d love to see:

  • Cloud Certifications - FinOps Certified Practitioner, AWS Cloud Practitioner, etc.

  • Understanding of QlikSense Enterprise/Cloud

  • Web development experience using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python.
