The energy of a newsroom, the pace of a trading floor, the buzz of a recent tech breakthrough; we work hard, and we work fast - while keeping up the quality and accuracy we're known for. It's what keeps us inventing and reinventing, all the time.
Our culture is wide open, just like our spaces. We bring out the best in each other through collaboration. Through our countless volunteer projects, we also help network with the communities around us, too. You can do amazing work here. Work you couldn't do anywhere else. It's up to you to make it happen.
What’s the role?
People are Bloomberg’s most critical asset — and this is reflected in our approach to benefits. We continually innovate to provide programs that meet the diverse needs of our employees and their families.
We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Senior Benefits Specialist to join our Americas Benefits team. Based in New York and supporting over 15,000 employees across more than 10 countries, you will lead the strategy, design, and implementation of Health & Welfare programs — with a strong focus on medical, pharmacy, dental, and vision plans. You’ll play a key role in shaping and evolving our U.S. benefits strategy, helping to assess, design, and implement potential plan enhancements while guiding the organization through related change management and employee education initiatives. As the US subject matter expert in Health & Welfare benefits, you’ll also contribute to the broader Americas benefits strategy, including Wellness and Work/Life programs.
In this role, you will manage vendor relationships, oversee plan administration, lead policy analysis, and partner cross-functionally to ensure programs are efficient, compliant, and aligned with employee needs. Success in this role will require strong analytical and project management skills, financial acumen, and exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities.
As part of the broader Global Benefits team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across EMEA and APAC on global initiatives impacting more than 24,000 employees in 73 countries.
We'll trust you to:
  • Lead the strategy, design, and delivery of Health & Welfare benefit programs, including medical, pharmacy, dental, and vision plans
  • Drive change management efforts related to potential updates or enhancements to U.S. medical plan offerings, ensuring strategic alignment across stakeholders and clear, effective communication to employees.
  • Partner with consultants, vendors, and internal teams to model financial impact, cost projections, and employee affordability scenarios for plan design changes
  • Develop and deliver employee education, decision support, and communication tools to enhance understanding and adoption of any new plan changes
  • Manage the implementation of new or revised benefit plans, programs, and policies
  • Monitor plan utilization and performance metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure Health & Welfare programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA
  • Conduct plan reviews and audits to assess operational effectiveness and implement process enhancements
  • Partner with Procurement, HR Operations, and Payroll on vendor management, renewals, and eligibility reconciliation
  • Collaborate with Internal Communications to craft messaging that promotes understanding and adoption of new and existing programs
  • Serve as the primary contact for complex Health & Welfare inquiries, exercising sound judgment and providing practical solutions
  • Stay current on benefits legislation, market trends, and best practices to inform program design and employee engagement strategies
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, consultants, vendors, and providers to ensure service excellence
  • Research and resolve complex benefits-related issues and information requests independently
You'll need to have:
  • Deep expertise in Health & Welfare benefits, particularly medical plan strategy, design, and implementation
  • Demonstrated experience leading change management initiatives related to the design or implementation of new or enhanced employee benefit programs, particularly within Health & Welfare.
  • Experience developing employee education, communication, and decision-making tools to support benefits enrollment and engagement
  • 7+ years of benefits administration and advisory experience, including at least 2–3 years in a corporate setting
  • Strong project management, analytical, and financial skills, with attention to accuracy and data quality
  • Experience designing and implementing innovative benefits programs
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving regulations with creativity and flexibility
  • Ability to communicate effectively and make sound, informed decisions, including when handling sensitive or complex matters
  • Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with urgency
  • A strong customer service mindset with a collaborative, “can-do” attitude
  • Good judgment — knowing when to escalate issues, balanced with a willingness to be flexible and solution-oriented
We'd love to see:
  • Knowledge of data analysis and reporting
  • Experience managing or enhancing U.S. medical plan offerings within large, complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in leading change management and employee communication initiatives related to benefits programs
  • Strong analytical and storytelling skills to translate plan data into actionable insights/recommendations
  • Familiarity with benefits decision support tools and platforms that help employees make informed healthcare and plan choices.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and presentations
  • Collaborative working style with global team exposure
