Description & Requirements

Bloomberg’s Risk and Compliance functions play a critical role in supporting our businesses, clients, and global operations within an ever-evolving regulatory landscape. Our Compliance Engineering team operates at the intersection of governance, platform infrastructure, technology, and financial regulation—building systems that ensure secure, trusted, and compliant access to Bloomberg data and services.

As part of our Regulatory Technology (RegTech) initiatives, we leverage technology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of compliance processes. We partner closely with Legal, Risk, Compliance, and Engineering teams to identify complex challenges and design scalable solutions that streamline and automate workflows. Our goal is to deliver systems that meet the highest standards for security, transparency, and resilience.

We'll expect you to:

  • Design and implement innovative technical solutions that deliver measurable business value
  • Collaborate across teams in a highly dynamic and cross-functional environment
  • Contribute ideas across the full development lifecycle—from product design and user experience to architecture and tooling
  • Advocate for best practices in software development, including code quality, testing, and maintainability

You'll need to have:

  • 5+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and delivering high-quality software using object-oriented languages (e.g., Python, C++)
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

We'd love to see:

  • Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Strong analytical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders
  • Hands-on experience leading and designing the integration with third-party SaaS platforms
  • Experience with microservices, distributed systems, or complex workflow orchestration
  • Familiarity with messaging and middleware technologies (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)
  • Experience with caching technologies (e.g., Redis, Memcached)
  • Strong database design skills, including performance optimization and query tuning
  • A passion for writing clean, testable code and following strong SDLC practices
