Ready to join a team that works with open source and big data technologies to solve complex problems? Join our Analytics Event Streaming team!

We are part of the Bloomberg Connectivity & Integration (BCI) organization, which connects thousands of enterprise clients to hundreds of Bloomberg applications, moving terabytes of financial data in a snap.

Our BCI Analytics Event Streaming team ingests billions of client-focused events daily from Connectivity systems and integrated Bloomberg products. We serve dozens of engineering teams, and thousands of active client users, with a high-throughput, low-latency, and reliable real-time stream processing and event storage platform. Enterprise clients rely on our data to monitor the health of their data workflows, connectivity to Bloomberg, find insights and actions to take, and remediate issues. We rely heavily on open source technologies, such as Apache Flink, Kafka, Redis, Solr and Hadoop. We are proud to be the earliest adopters of Apache Flink and one of the largest users in the firm.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the team. You will be able to build a platform and solutions at large scale, while also working closely with business to make a client impact, and get creative and employ the best technology to solve the needs.

We trust you to:

  • Develop high standard software and data streaming pipelines, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency
  • Show strong ownership of your tasks. Collaborate with Engineering and Business stakeholders to drive project to success
  • Research solutions for problems with a large dataset, run proof of concepts, and advocate ideas to the team
  • Mentor less experienced members of the team to help them grow
  • Contribute to an inclusive, supportive and collaborative team culture

You will need to have:

  • 4+ years working with an object-oriented programming language (C/C++, Python, Java, etc.) or equivalent experience in Go and Scala
  • Familiar with some big data storage and processing technologies (e.g., BCS, Hadoop, Solr, Spark, Flink, Kafka)
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team

We’d love to see:

  • Hands-on experience with Apache Flink and Kafka
  • Experience with NoSQL database
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
