The Role:
The Associate Director of Quality reports to the Director of Procurement and Technical Services and is responsible for ensuring our products meet the highest standards for quality, safety, and compliance. This role will lead all Quality Assurance workstreams to design, implement, and improve quality processes. It will collaborate closely with operations, product development, and customer experience to deliver a consistent, high-performing product that aligns with our company mission.
Responsibilities:
- Lead implementation of all product quality initiatives internally and at Blueland suppliers, and ensure compliance to all related policies, procedures, and specifications
- Oversee external audits of raw material manufacturers, packaging manufacturers, contract manufacturers and other suppliers as directed
- Responsible for conducting and reviewing investigations relating to customer/consumer complaints or product quality deviations, including CAPA reporting, non-conformance tracking, and quality KPI tracking
- Partner with our customer experience team to improve our product quality tracking and reporting processes, including monthly reviews with internal teams to identify issues and track product quality trends
- Support R&D initiatives, working collaboratively with the Product Development in designing and implementing systems and processes that improve product/process quality
- Build, maintain, and update Blueland’s specification documents, called Product Manuals, and publish these documents to our suppliers as necessary
- Partner with the operations team to implement lot traceability on our products from manufacture through distribution
- Manage any product recalls and/or product withdrawals
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of Quality Assurance experience in the consumer goods, nutrition, or food industry
- Experience in both contract and in-house manufacturing environments
- Ability to establish, manage, and expand a world-class Quality Department
- Effective communication skills with internal teams and external partners
- Understanding of and ability to interpret the FDA and EPA regulations
- Passionate about the environment, sustainability and Blueland’s mission
The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $150,000 per year.
