The Team You’ll Work With
We're looking for an experienced Sales Leader to join our Venture Capital sales team. Our customers are primarily venture capital firms as well as angel investors, family offices, funds of funds, and private equity firms. Carta's platform allows these clients to track and manage their portfolios while liaising with their investors.
As a leader on the Venture Capital sales team, you will lead a team of Account Executives and your ultimate north star will be to hit your team’s ARR goal. The team is focused on introducing top tier clients to our wide range of product offerings, including custodial services, portfolio management, reporting and analytics, investor management, investor portal, valuations, and data collection. These Carta services include selling consultative access to our team of Carta fund administration accountants who support funds quarterly reporting needs. We offer tech-focused investor portals to both the fund GPs/Admins and also their investors/LPs.
You will also work closely with new venture capital funds as they navigate the process of forming a new fund. That process involves advising them on best practices and referring them to additional vendors which may include fund formation lawyers and tax professionals.
The Problems You’ll Solve
The primary problem set to solve is simply growing the new business (first derivative of month-over-month and year-over-year net new ARR growth). You will do this by partnering with cross functional teams (including Product Management, Product Marketing, Revenue Operations, and Business Operations) to drive full funnel and sale cycle optimization and growth
Driving holistic GTM motion where Marketing, Channel and Sales are all operating as one team, driving to a common goal of increasing ARR and market share.
In addition you will:
- Empower, inspire and motivate employees on a daily basis to create a world class customer experience and represent Carta in the marketplace
- Foster a culture of training and coaching in order to ramp new reps and continue building their sales acumen as well as Carta value knowledge
- Reinforce inputs and activity metrics that enable reps to successfully hit and exceed quota
- Strategize with sales, channel and marketing counterparts on pipeline and prospecting initiatives to meet company goals
- Partner with recruiting to continually build a bench of strong talent for the sales org
- Work cross-functionally with sales enablement to develop, implement, and refine new hire onboarding and improve ramp time
- Lead from the front: Participate in dial blitzes and spear-head email/content generation sessions
About You
You have a track record of not only leading a quota-carrying Sales team, but of exceeding quota yourself. You also have experience leading Sales or Business Development teams. You have experience with, and potentially existing contacts within, the private capital markets community (lawyers, investors, bankers, accountants, etc.) as well as within the General Partner / Limited Partner / Founder community. You are a strong communicator with presentation and networking skills, specifically experience meeting with C-level executives and decision makers. You understand the SaaS business model, and may even have experience working in and/or are passionate about the venture capital and start-up ecosystem.
- Strong knowledge of the Venture and private markets landscape and how to speak to this market
- Proven track record of exceeding goals as a hunter and closer as an individual contributor and manager
- 7+ Sales Leadership experience, directly managing a high performing Sales team.
- Ability to partner cross functionally with product, marketing and the SDR organization
- Experience successfully managing teams that work in strategic deal cycles
- Proven track record in leading a team running deal cycles that are 9-12 months
- Excellent communication, teamwork and people management skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
- Embrace a growth mind-set and appreciate looking at problems from different perspectives
- Proficient working with Salesforce.com and Marketing Automation platforms
Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our minimum cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is:
- $165,000 base (+ commission) San Francisco and New York
