Overview of the Chief Information Security Office (CISO) Organization:
The Chief Information Security Office (CISO) is home to deeply talented colleagues that work to ensure the safety of Citi's clients', our revenue, our employees and our proprietary data. We manage information security as one end-to end program – one with a clear mandate and accountability. Overview of the Role:
The Architecture Sr Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to drive a variety of engineering activities including the design, acquisition and deployment of hardware, software and network infrastructure in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead efforts to ensure quality standards are being met within existing and planned framework.
Responsibilities:
- Provide conceptual analyses for a variety of broad and complex issues
- Manage all products from design to implementation and ongoing performance according to business need
- Ensure all technology standards are developed, understood and adhered to operationally around the globe
- Ensure that Citi makes appropriate strategic choices in onboarding, managing and exiting of vendors from the product portfolio
- Manage a department of multiple teams from various technology disciplines, overseeing planning, performance management/counseling, pay decisions and other personnel actions
- Provides an environment where Subject Matter Experts can prosper and deliver effectively
- Oversee the technology budget and manage the budget and forecasts to ensure relevant targets are met
- Utilize in-depth knowledge of how technology integrates within Citi and of direct competitors products and services
- Make evaluative judgments based on analyzing information in complicated or unique situations, utilizing multiple sources of information
- Negotiate with senior leaders across functions, and with external parties, as required
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of relevant experience in an Engineering role with extensive experience in business, functional and people management.
- Experience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environment
- Project Management experience
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities and related reporting to identify best practices
- Demonstrated analytic/diagnostic skills
- Ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teams
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiative
- Ability to work under pressure and manage to tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
- Proven track record of operational process change and improvement
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
I. Core Cloud Architecture Skills
- Deep and hands-on expertise with major public cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and GCP. Must be proficient in designing, deploying, and managing solutions on at least two of these platforms. Strong understanding of each platform's strengths, weaknesses, and pricing models.
- Expert knowledge of cloud architecture patterns, such as microservices, serverless computing, event-driven architectures, and containerization. Ability to apply these patterns appropriately to different business scenarios.
- Expertise in IaC principles and tools, such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and Azure Resource Manager. Ability to automate the provisioning and management of cloud infrastructure using code.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts, including virtual networks, subnets, routing, firewalls, and load balancing. Ability to design and implement secure and highly available network architectures in the cloud.
- Deep knowledge of cloud security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), data encryption, network security, and compliance. Experience with cloud security tools and services, such as AWS Security Hub, Azure Security Center, and Google Cloud Security Command Center. Understanding of security frameworks like NIST, CIS, and ISO 27001.
- Proven experience in planning and executing cloud migration projects, including assessing workloads, selecting migration strategies, and managing the migration process. Familiarity with cloud migration tools and services, such as AWS Migration Hub, Azure Migrate, and Google Cloud Migrate for Compute Engine.
- Expertise in containerization technologies, such as Docker, and container orchestration platforms, such as Kubernetes. Ability to design and implement containerized applications in the cloud.
- Strong understanding of serverless computing concepts and experience with serverless platforms, such as AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, and Google Cloud Functions. Ability to design and implement serverless applications in the cloud.
- Expert knowledge of cloud-based data storage solutions, including object storage, block storage, and file storage. Experience with cloud-based database services, such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, and Google Cloud SQL. Understanding of data warehousing and data lake concepts in the cloud.
- Ability to analyze cloud spending and identify opportunities for cost optimization. Experience with cloud cost management tools and services, such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, and Google Cloud Billing.
II. Leadership and Management Skills
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a team of cloud architects and engineers. Ability to build a high-performing team and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Ability to think strategically and develop long-term cloud strategies that align with the company's overall business goals. Ability to anticipate future trends in cloud computing and adapt cloud strategies accordingly.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including business units, IT operations, and security.
- Ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management, cloud vendors, and business unit leaders. Ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders to achieve cloud objectives.
- Experience in managing relationships with cloud vendors and negotiating contracts. Ability to evaluate and select cloud services that meet the company's needs.
- Ability to define and implement cloud governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance, security, and cost control. Experience with cloud governance tools and frameworks.
- Experience in managing cloud budgets and allocating resources effectively. Ability to track cloud spending and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Ability to lead and manage change effectively, including communicating cloud strategies, training teams, and addressing concerns.
III. Additional Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud computing, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a cloud architecture leadership role.
- Relevant cloud certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect.
- Deep understanding of the cloud computing market and emerging trends. Knowledge of industry best practices for cloud architecture, security, and governance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex situations and develop effective solutions.
- A strong passion for automation and a desire to automate cloud infrastructure and operations.
- A strong focus on security and a commitment to building secure cloud solutions.
