CLEAR is seeking a Senior Manager, Payments to lead the end-to-end strategy and execution of our subscription payments ecosystem. You’ll serve as the in-house expert on credit card billing systems and data flows, responsible for ensuring accuracy, reliability, and continuous optimization of our billing operations. Reporting directly to CLEAR’s Chief Accounting Officer, you’ll partner cross-functionally to improve performance, reduce risk, and enhance the member experience.
What you'll do:
- Ensure billing processes run with high accuracy, uptime, and compliance—24/7/365
- Monitor and optimize key performance indicators, including authorization success rate
Payment failure rate, chargeback rate, recovery and fraud exposure, transaction costs, and interchange fees - Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Product, and Member Care) to improve authorization, conversion, and mitigate payment-related friction
- Develop reporting and dashboards for leadership to create transparency and drive accountability across teams
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues related to payment failures, declines, or disputes
How you'll measure success:
- Chargeback reduction and dispute win rate improvement
- Payment success rate improvement and reduction in failed transactions
- Process improvements implemented and documented, driving operational efficiency
- Implement measurable cost savings through vendor negotiations or process improvements, reducing processing fees annually
What you're great at:
- 6+ years of experience in payment operations (merchant/acquirer/processor side), with a proven track record of managing complex payment infrastructures and partnerships
- Deep knowledge of global payment systems, card networks, gateways, and payment acceptance best practices
- Strong analytical and modeling skills; comfort with SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools
- Experience with payment tools like Stripe, Worldpay, or similar
- Experience with dispute resolution, fraud tools, and compliance standards
- Excellent stakeholder and project management skills, and can influence cross-functionally
- Experience in B2C or subscription-based businesses strongly preferred

The base salary range for this role is $130,000-$170,000, depending on levels of skills and experience.
The base salary range represents the low and high end of CLEAR’s salary range for this position. Salaries will vary depending on various factors which include, but are not limited to location, education, skills, experience and performance. The range listed is just one component of CLEAR’s total compensation package for employees and other rewards may include annual bonuses, commission, Restricted Stock Units
