Position Summary
Deloitte GCSG has an opening for a bilingual summer intern who will assist in designing, managing, implementing strategic programs, and supporting other initiatives for the Deloitte US Chinese Services Group (CSG). This position will report to Deloitte USCSG Operations Leader and work closely with the entire Deloitte USCSG team and Deloitte China GCSG team in support of Deloitte’s business objectives and strategic initiatives on China. The successful candidate should possess high degree of fluency in English and Chinese Mandarin.
Work you’ll do
The main responsibility is to assist in CSG Strategy refresh efforts, developing and executing strategic programs related to client growth, revenue analysis, internal eminence building and internal project support. We are looking for candidates who have solid data analytical skills, understanding of the professional services and client engagement dynamics, strong communication skills in writing, presentation, and bilingual translation to support the needs across industries, geographies, designated service lines or products and services.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the business professionals (audit, tax, advisory, consulting, etc.), and assist with bilingual communication needs, such as developing content for the “China for China” playbook, marketing materials, connecting with Deloitte China, etc.
  • Perform client research by reviewing external financial data and public company information to identify targets
  • Prepare selected revenue reporting and perform analytical review to identify client growth areas
  • Manage and support content development related to our service capabilities, practice qualifications, etc.
A successful intern will:
  • Ensure that all assignments are carried out to the highest standards in order to provide outstanding value to clients and the Firm.
  • Assist in conducting research as delegated and provide meaningful analysis/ output for review
  • Gather information through networking and research to understand broader offerings of Deloitte and awareness of opportunities for cross-selling.
  • Research innovation and trends related to business, industry and economy as directed by team for use in enhancement of service offerings
  • Raise ideas to address issues arising that may enhance/renew service offerings to clients
  • Raise risks and issues to project management for resolution in a timely manner
  • Present an approachable and professional style while engaging and communicating with others in an effort to build lasting relationships
  • Collect, assimilate and analyze relevant data and use standard processes and tools to help surface and support solutions
The Team
The Global Chinese Services Group of Deloitte LLP assists US-based companies investing and operating in China. Whether entering the China market for the first time or seeking to optimize existing operations, Deloitte USCSG, in collaboration with the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu member firm in China, can help companies identify an expanding range of opportunities to manufacture, source, and/or sell in China and navigate the associated risks.
Deloitte USCSG also assists Chinese companies seeking to access U.S. markets - expanding operations, raising capital from public or private sources and/or acquiring US assets. Deloitte USCSG’s national network of bilingual professionals works closely with colleagues in China to deliver seamless service to globalizing Chinese companies.
Simply put, Deloitte USCSG network positions its practitioners in the local market to allow seamless and effective service to our clients on all China-related issues.
Qualifications
Required:
  • College sophomore or junior with definitive plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in a business, accounting, economics, STEM, or related field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Chinese
  • Successful performance in a matrix environment and in a virtual work environment (e.g., delivering projects with team members in multiple locations)
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to juggle multiple tasks and timelines
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
Preferred:
  • Strong academic credential, minimum GPA of a 3.2 at the end of the academic year
  • Sound knowledge of business fundamentals and US/China business environment/marketplace
  • Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and financial systems (SAP, Tableau, etc.)
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to juggle multiple tasks and timelines
  • Should be prepared to get into detailed work as well as provide strategic counsel/support (a "can-do" attitude)
  • Strong data analytical skills and good with mathematical reasoning
  • Strong negotiation, problem solving, and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with ambiguity, take initiative, be self-motivated to complete projects independently with appropriate direction/feedback, and interact with all levels of management
  • Demonstrated commitment to service excellence
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York City, Deloitte is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to New York City and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary is $31/hr
