Position Summary

Deloitte Risk & Financial Advisory – Associate Software Engineer

As an Associate Software Engineer in our Hybrid-Operate group, you’ll have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside leading professionals across diverse industries.

Work you’ll do

As an Associate Software Engineer, you will work internal teams to enhance and customize Deloitte’s technology assets to address the needs of our clients. You will be required to research, collaborate, and report out on risks and mitigating factors associated with software development.

Specific Areas of work could include:

  • Analyze and implement user requirements/business needs as new and/or enhanced product functionality
  • Design, code, test, and document software code
  • Assist in the packaging and delivery of finished software products to clients
  • Communicate with technical and business leaders on business requirements, system-related capabilities, programming progress, and enhancement status
  • Assist in supporting the client by providing technical product support to them, help them configure the application in their environment, help debug issues, etc.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the hosted products and environments
  • Learn new technologies and help the team implement them in our products
  • Facilitate use of technology-based tools or methodologies to analyze, design, and/or implement products and services
  • Build and nurture positive working relationships with clients with the intention to exceed client expectations

The desired candidate for this role is analytical and detail oriented, with a strong drive to learn new technologies. They will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and while they will be team oriented, they will also be able to work independently as needed.

  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills essential to interacting with clients and teams
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects/assignments/ responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills in support of both innovative and operational enhancement opportunities
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate across Deloitte team members and client stakeholders
  • Ability to identify, learn, understand, and implement new concepts, frameworks and emerging technologies
  • Ability to manage own personal and professional development; seek opportunities for professional growth and expansion of consulting skills and experience
  • A strong understanding of Windows Based systems and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong Academic track record with extracurricular activities (cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above)

· Good knowledge of agile SDLC process

  • Good understanding and/or experience working with programming languages like JavaScript (TypeScript or ECMAScript 7+), Python, C#, Java, .NET, HTML, etc.

· Good understanding and/or experience working with MS Visual Studio, Eclipse, Git/SVN, etc.

  • Good understanding and/or experience working with Relational Database Management Systems like Microsoft SQL server and mySQL
  • Good understanding of different software design patterns and Object Oriented Programming principles
  • A strong understanding of Windows or Linux/Ubuntu based server operating systems

· Ability to travel up to 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Our current work environment is a hybrid approach, which means:
  • You should reside within a commutable distance of your assigned office with the ability to commute daily, if required
  • You can expect to be co-located 30-50% with variations based on types of work/projects and client locations

Preferred:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above
  • Relevant work experience or work experience in a professional environment (e.g. internships, summer positions, school jobs)
  • Demonstrated recent leadership, such as in a campus club, society, sports teams or other activity
  • Demonstrated recent social impact or volunteer activity
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and tools. Good to have experience in building and maintaining fully automated Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) pipelines in Microsoft Azure DevOps, GitHub, JIRA, or other similar technologies
  • Knowledge of No-SQL database technologies like MongoDB
  • Exposure to developing cloud-based applications in a micro-services architecture would be a plus
  • Exposure to public cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS or Google Cloud)

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $84,000 to $84,000.
