Candidate profile

  • Develop detailed broadcast system designs, including signal flow diagrams, rack layouts, and wiring schematics using AutoCAD.
  • Current knowledge of broadcast and network technology with a focus on the latest in technology advancements in this space
  • Specify, select, and configure broadcast equipment (e.g., routers, switchers, servers, intercom, playout, automation).
  • Prepare comprehensive project estimates, including equipment lists, labor, and materials.
  • Lead initial design of technology footprint to get to a set of construction ready build documents.
  • Produce technical documentation, run-lists, and as-built records for all phases of the project.
  • Participate in and/or lead system build, integration, testing, and commissioning activities—both in-house and on-site.
  • Able to participate and effectively communicate with existing and potential clients at all levels of management
  • Commissioning Responsibilities:
    • Oversee and execute the end-to-end commissioning process for broadcast systems, ensuring all components are installed, configured, and operating according to design specifications.
    • Develop and implement commissioning plans, test procedures, and acceptance criteria in alignment with client requirements and industry standards.
    • Perform detailed functional and performance testing of video, audio, control, and network systems, including signal verification, timing alignment, and redundancy checks.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues identified during commissioning, coordinating with vendors and internal teams as needed.
    • Document all commissioning activities, test results, and system adjustments, providing clear and comprehensive reports to clients and project stakeholders.
    • Conduct client walkthroughs and system demonstrations, delivering training and support to ensure smooth handover and operational readiness.
    • Ensure all safety, compliance, and quality standards are met throughout the commissioning process.
  • Conduct and participate in client design reviews, ensuring technical alignment with broadcast standards (e.g., SMPTE, AES, HD-SDI, 4K, IP-based workflows).
  • Collaborate with vendors and other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of all broadcast systems.

Your role

We are seeking a technically driven Broadcast Media Systems Design Engineer with strong estimating experience to deliver robust engineering solutions to join our world class media solutions team delivering broadcast infrastructure projects that lead the industry in innovation and new technology. This full-time role is focused on hands-on system design, technical documentation, equipment configuration, and on-site deployment and commissioning for broadcast clients.

You will work closely with clients and internal teams to translate broadcast requirements into detailed engineering designs, provide accurate project estimates, and ensure systems are built, commissioned, and handed over to the highest standards. Our team is constantly growing and expanding in new markets and capabilities, and this leadership engineering position is a critical component of our growth ambitions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in broadcast media system design, build, deployment, and commissioning, including project estimation.
  • Strong working knowledge of broadcast networks, video (HD-SDI, 4K), digital audio, and control systems.
  • You should reside within a commutable distance of your assigned New York City office, with the ability to commute to a NYC client location daily, if required, without the need for overnight accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with NMOS IS-04/05, SMPTE 2110, and other broadcast protocols.
  • Experience with A&E/MEP space planning, electrical, and HVAC for broadcast facilities.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge of IPAM/DCIM database platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities for technical documentation and client interaction.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Visio and other broadcast design tools.
  • Cloud technology fundamentals across AWS/Google/Azure
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience producing detailed engineering documentation and as-built records.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $113100 to $208300.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
