Work you’ll do/Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain IBM i applications using COBOL (often ILE COBOL) to support core business processes (e.g., order-to-cash, billing, claims, inventory).
- Design and update DB2 for i data structures (physical/logical files, tables, indexes) and write embedded SQL or native I/O for data access.
- Build and enhance batch processing (end-of-day cycles, billing runs, financial postings), including job scheduling and restart/recovery logic.
- Develop online/interactive components such as green-screen (5250) applications (e.g., DDS display files) and/or integrate with modern UIs/services where applicable.
- Maintain RPG/CL integrations where solutions are mixed-stack, and write CL (Control Language) scripts for job control, file management, and automation.
- Debug, test, and troubleshoot production issues (analyze job logs/spool files, dumps, and DB2 locks; perform root-cause analysis and fixes).
- Performance tuning for programs and SQL (optimize queries, reduce I/O, improve batch runtimes, manage commitment control/locking behavior).
- Support interfaces and integrations (flat files, FTP/SFTP workflows, EDI, message queues, APIs via middleware) and ensure data validation/reconciliation.
- Implement change management (version control, promotions across environments, impact analysis, rollbacks, release notes).
- Ensure operational reliability (monitor batch windows, handle reruns, manage dependencies, update runbooks).

Qualifications
Required
- 6+ years of experience with AS400
- 6+ years of experience with Healthcare and Claims adjudication
- 6+ years of experience with DB2
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related IT discipline; or equivalent experience
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
- Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $140000 to $152000.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
