Position Summary

Detailed Position Description:

Join our collaborative team of bankruptcy attorneys who represent and advise Deloitte LLP and its affiliates on a wide variety of bankruptcy and restructuring issues arising from the bankruptcy cases and similar proceedings of the clients of the Deloitte US entities and provide legal support to the restructuring advisory services group of the Deloitte US entities. The candidate will also be expected to work with other OGC attorneys on drafting and negotiating complex contractual agreements and terms in matters unrelated to bankruptcy cases.

  • Ability to manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues, often on a time-sensitive basis
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications:

Required

  • Law Degree
  • 5+ of experience working as an attorney
  • Active member of a U.S. State Bar in good standing required
  • Prior experience with extensive knowledge of the US Bankruptcy Code and significant working experience in connection with large chapter 11 bankruptcy cases (especially cases pending in the Bankruptcy Courts of the Southern District of New York, Delaware and Southern District of Texas)
  • Prior experience in assessing potential conflicts under the Bankruptcy Code related to professional retention requirements
  • Prior experience in reviewing and drafting various bankruptcy applications and motions, including:
    • applications to retain professional services firms and supporting documents
    • fee applications
  • Prior experience working with attorneys from the Office of the United States Trustee on various matters including those related to professional retentions, fee applications and potential conflicts
  • Prior experience in appearing before US Bankruptcy Courts on contested matters and adversary proceedings
  • Prior experience in drafting and negotiating contracts or similar documents
  • Ability to travel 0-10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $335,200 to $558,600.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
