Position Summary

Work you’ll do

As a Deloitte Tax Business Analyst, Senior you will be responsible for understanding the business needs, models, trends, and transformation vision. You will identify changes required to meet the business need by consideration of organization structure, business functions, required knowledge and skills, processes and technology. You will explore possible solutions by coordinating with technical architects for discovery and demonstrate how proposed solutions are aligned to business goals and objectives and define the impacts and risks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Use business goals and objectives to assist Product Owners in developing a product roadmap.
  • Perform business analysis tasks and/or coordinate tasks across the Service Delivery Transformation program.
  • Identify solution options that meet the business need, then coordinate with delivery teams to determine the best solution approach.
  • Assist Product Owners in defining release scope, including defining benefits and risks during the discovery phase.
  • Develop supporting artifacts including requirements, solution options, recommendations, business flows, where required.
  • Make connections with other initiatives in place, underway or planned across other parts of the organization that need to be considered.
  • Work with architects and delivery teams to ensure the functionality meets the needs of the enterprise and aligns to the overall vision.
  • Actively identify and champion innovation initiatives supporting the business strategy.
  • Develop and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with Product Owners, and various SMEs across the organization to support Service Delivery Transformation efforts.
  • Explore and assess applications of AI, machine learning, and automation to streamline tax business processes, generate data-driven insights, and create value for our clients.

A successful candidate would possess these skills:

  • Clear technical communication — Ability to communicate business needs, functional requirements, technical concepts, assumptions, dependencies, and solution trade-offs clearly and concisely.
  • Cross-functional collaboration — Ability to work effectively with Product Owners, architects, developers, delivery teams, and subject matter experts to resolve requirements and maintain solution alignment.
  • Requirements facilitation — Ability to support discovery sessions, requirements workshops, backlog refinement, solution reviews, and other delivery discussions.
  • Structured problem solving — Ability to evaluate business and technology challenges, identify impacts and risks, and develop practical recommendations in a changing environment.

The team

Deloitte Tax LLP's Tax Transformation Office (TTO) is responsible for the design, development, and deployment of innovative, enterprise technology, tools, and standard processes to support the delivery of tax services. The TTO team focuses on enhancing Deloitte Tax LLP’s ability to deliver comprehensive, value-added, and efficient tax services to our clients. It is a dynamic team with professionals of varying backgrounds from tax technical, technology development, change management, Six Sigma, and project management. The team consults and executes on a wide range of initiatives involving process and tool development and implementation including training development, engagement management, tool design, and implementation.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2 – 3 days per week
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience supporting technical delivery teams and conducting product development using different software development. methodologies, like Agile and Scaled Agile.
  • Demonstrated ability to elicit, analyze, document, and validate business requirements, process flows, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Proven ability to connect business goals, operating models, processes, and technology solutions to identify opportunities and support informed recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Product Owners, architects, developers, tax professionals, subject matter experts, and delivery teams.
  • Ability to document current-state and future-state processes, identify gaps and dependencies, and recommend improvements aligned to business objectives. Business and process modeling are core capabilities for senior-level analytical roles.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • One of the following active accreditations obtained in process, or willing/able to obtain:
    • Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
    • If not CPA eligible:
      • Licensed attorney
      • Enrolled Agent
      • CBAP® - Certified Business Analysis Professional
      • Certified SAFe® Product Owner / Product Manager
      • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
      • Project Management Professional (PMP)
      • Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt)
      • Alteryx Designer - Advanced Certification

Preferred:

  • Ability to create clear requirements, business flows, use cases, solution recommendations, process maps, and other delivery artifacts.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong listening, interpersonal, and facilitation skills
  • Able to interact effectively with professionals at all levels and communicate recommendations
  • Motivated, resourceful, and dependable
  • Well organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize multiple, ongoing projects
  • Able to respond quickly to high-priority deadlines with little lead-time and adaptable to direction changes

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,550 to $195,250.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
