About the Team

The Employee Experience & Development (EED) team is responsible for designing and delivering enterprise-wide experiences and development programs to drive employee performance, engagement, and retention at scale. This team builds solutions to help employees thrive at DoorDash through four key functions: (1) Learning & Development, (2) Internal Mobility, (3) Employee Experience, and (4) Workplace Services.

We are a nimble, high-impact team whose cross-functional work connects, develops, and motivates our people to invent and build beyond what they thought possible. We believe strategic investment in employee learning, development, and growth is the key to unlocking the greatest potential in our people. Come help us build DoorDash’s future!

About the Role

As DoorDash’s global head of Learning & Development (L&D), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our talent strategy. We’re seeking a highly-strategic and data-driven leader to reimagine the impact L&D can have on performance, retention, manager effectiveness, and employee engagement overall. You will own and iterate DoorDash’s global L&D strategy, and partner closely with peers across Talent Management, Total Rewards, People Business Partners, People Analytics, People Technology, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, to deliver high-impact learning solutions for our most critical talent needs. You’ll lead a passionate team of learning professionals to deliver best-in-class development programs that are as dynamic as the business we support.

You will report to the Senior Director of Employee Experience & Development at DoorDash. We expect this role to be hybrid with some time in-office and some time remote, anchored to whichever corporate office you are closest.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you’ll…

  • Vision & Strategy: Develop and implement a forward-thinking, data-driven L&D strategy aligned with DoorDash’s ambitious business and talent objectives, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and motivate a team of L&D professionals to realize our L&D vision, adapt to changing business needs with optimism, and support their individual growth and success.
  • Business-Driven Program Design: Collaborate with business leaders and People Team peers to design and deliver dynamic development programs that equip managers with critical people management skills, promote career growth for high-performing talent, and cultivate a culture of ownership and collaboration.
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS): Leverage your expertise in learning management systems (LMS) to increase the reach, selection, accessibility, and effectiveness of our eLearning and instructor-led training solutions for all employees.
  • Learning Measurement: Be responsible for designing measurement strategies to analyze the effectiveness and impact of our L&D programs on key people metrics (eg, performance, engagement, retention, etc.), and use data-driven insights to continually improve and refine our solutions.
  • Budget Management: Manage the L&D budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize the impact of learning initiatives.

We’re excited about you because you…

  • Have a bachelor's degree with 12+ years’, a Master’s degree with 10+ years’, or a Ph.D. with 6+ years’ experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development, and/or Talent Management
  • Have 5+ years in people management and 3+ years’ experience leading a global L&D function at a company of similar size and/or industry
  • Have excellent strategic thinking and planning skills, with a track record of designing and implementing successful learning strategies that grow and evolve with your business client
  • Have a “Dream Big, Start Small” approach to work: You have the strategic ability to set a clear vision, as well as the bias for action to execute the steps needed to get there, emphasizing business impact and practical application over theory.
  • Have proven expertise in program measurement and evaluation, including impact measurement, evaluating program effectiveness, and developing new metrics/KPIs
  • Have a strong understanding of the effectiveness of differing learning solutions and modalities, including in-person and virtual instructor-led training (ILT), eLearning and microlearning, and AI-driven learning
  • Have expertise with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and/or other learning technologies
  • Have demonstrated expertise independently producing written documents to demonstrate a business case or analyze the impact of your team’s work
  • Are comfortable with ambiguity and are able to work with stakeholders to find the right questions as well as the right answers
  • Are commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment, with strong knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design trends
  • Have relevant certifications in L&D and/or HR-related fields
