About the Team

The New Verticals Business Development team is a small, fast-paced, high-performing group responsible for establishing, managing and scaling new lines of business at DoorDash in the retail and logistics space.

About the Role

As an Associate of Emerging Retail Insights, you will be the go-to person for discovering, analyzing, and implementing merchant-related strategies that drive expansion. This role offers the unique opportunity to get in at the ground floor and operate at a "startup" pace for one of DoorDash’s fastest and most promising new bets in the retail and logistics space. You will report directly to the Manager of Retail Partnerships within our Merchant Business Development organization, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of how we scale with our most important partners.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Be a key go-to player for merchant strategy, serving as the primary source of truth for all merchant insights and helping set the strategic vision for our emerging retail and parcel business.
  • Bridge the gap between data and action by using SQL and Python to discover untapped expansion opportunities and then partnering with enterprise partner managers and cross-functional teams to drive their end-to-end implementation.
  • Empower Enterprise Partner Managers by providing the analytical foundation for high-stakes decisions and high-impact commercial collateral, including QBR/ABR decks and operational Source of Truth (SOT) frameworks.
  • Support the full merchant lifecycle, from mining raw data for growth levers to supporting new merchant launches and managing critical operational workflows like quarterly zip coverage and invoice resolution.
  • Drive high-visibility impact by identifying "greenfield" opportunities that directly result in revenue and delivery volume growth for DoorDash and our most strategic merchant partners.
  • Accelerate your career in the retail and logistics space, gaining deep domain expertise and the autonomy to build new analytical frameworks from the ground up in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 2+ years of experience in banking, consulting, or analytical roles
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • You are a master in data analysis and fluent in either SQL or Python
  • You have relevant experience or a deep-seated interest in expanding your knowledge of the retail, ecommerce, or logistics industries.
  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset with a "nose for opportunity" and the tenacity to thrive within ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • You have the ability to make confident strategic decisions even when faced with imperfect or incomplete data.
  • You are a natural collaborator and consensus builder who excels at working with cross-functional partners to align technical analysis with business goals.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You have a naturally optimistic outlook that is balanced by objective analysis

Compensation

Actual compensation within the pay range listed below will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. Base salary is localized according to employee work location.

See below for paid time off details:

  • For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
  • For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).
The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado.
