About the role

The Shopify Retail team builds our Point of Sale (POS) system (software and hardware) with everything our merchants need to sell in person, backed by everything they need to sell online. The Retail Channel Manager will own the day to day operation and ongoing improvement of the Shopify Hardware Store, which is currently our largest channel for distributing our POS Hardware, and is increasingly an important source of merchant acquisition.

Responsibilities

Team leadership

  • Identify channel KPIs, and align with broader organizational goals

  • Set the team’s roadmap, and manage prioritization across entire Hardware Store team

  • Guide the work of two additional team members (though not a people management role)

Technical Leadership and Execution

  • Manage intake of requirements/requests from stakeholders (e.g. marketing, product)

  • Identify technical and infrastructural improvements required to achieve goals and improve efficiency of store operations

  • Lead execution and project management of technical improvement projects

  • Maintain and improve the Hardware Store’s tech stack (e.g. third party apps)

  • Manage contracts and renewals with vendors

Optimization and Growth

  • Track performance against KPIs, diagnose changes, and identify opportunities to improve

  • Develop and and prioritize growth roadmap to achieve goals

  • Execute growth projects, including project management across stakeholders where necessary

Requirements for the Role

  • Strong business acumen, including at least 7+ years of experience leading projects with direct Profit & Loss impact.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to drive alignment across multiple functions to deliver on tight deadlines.

  • Hands-on technical experience managing a high-traffic Shopify store, or other similar website platform

  • Ability to communicate and present effectively with Executive leadership with high business acumen.

  • Self-starter with the ability to tackle large problems in a fast-paced, collaborative and ambiguous environment.

  • Strong ability to prioritize and juggle multiple priorities, proven ability to get things done in a fast-paced dynamic & growing environment.

  • Strong problem solving aptitude with an analytical mindset, ability to use data and critical thinking to synthesize and outline the business impact.
