We’re looking for a collaborative, organized and hardworking Research Analyst, who has a strong interest in the private market. EquityZen’s marketplace connects buyers and sellers of shares in pre-IPO companies. Our 710K+ clients range from individual investors to early startup employees, private companies, VCs, family offices, investment advisers, and other institutions. Over the past 11 years, EquityZen has completed over 44,000 company-approved private market transactions in over 450 late stage companies. By automating an antiquated offline process, we’ve led the charge in building more efficient, cost-effective, and transparent private markets for investors and shareholders of all sizes.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Build capitalization (“cap”) tables for private companies using information found in public filings. These cap tables are a key component of the investment due diligence for investors in private companies.
- Assist with with the construction of offering documents for new private company investment offerings
- Complete pricing / valuation analysis for private companies
- Provide research for individual pre-IPO companies
- Work collaboratively with other teams (Sales, Operations, Compliance, Marketing, and Product) on a wide range of projects/initiatives
- Keep up with pre-IPO news, public filings and market trends and use insights to drive new research initiatives
THE RIGHT STUFF
- Prior experience in fundamental investment research or analysis, preferred
- Demonstrated ability to write clear and concise content
- Bachelor’s degree required, Finance degree preferred
- Desire to learn about tech companies across markets and industry verticals
- Basic understanding of corporate finance and accounting concepts
- Strong experience in MS Office (PPT, XLS)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organized and responsive with strong attention to detail
- Self-starter with ability to work autonomously
- Ability to present findings, implications and recommendations to colleagues and senior management
- Strong critical thinking skills. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their ability to think through investment implications of industry news/events
- Passion for tech sector and investments
BONUS POINTS
- Prior experience in financial services, technology, or venture capital
- Familiarity with Pitchbook and Crunchbase is a plus
- Series 7 and/or 63 license
SALARY
$70,000 - $80,000
