We are looking for a Design Lead Manager to partner with Product Management and Engineering on the Embodiment team where you’ll be responsible for managing two designers while also providing strategic direction to our product space. Embodiment in the context of our team means:Appearance - How avatars are represented and appear in Horizon (loading, full body with legs)Interaction - How avatars move and interact with each other (social gestures ) with 3D objects (grab, throw, catch, physics) the environment and their UI. Expression - How avatars express themselves in Horizon (emotes) and use accessories (attachables) across worlds. Our mission is to ensure that avatars’ appearance, interaction and expression feel comfortable, effortless, fun and immersive across Horizon. This role provides opportunities to collaborate across Horizon, as well as cross-org with Avatars & Identity, VR Systems Design teams, this leadership position presents vast opportunities to proactively identify important problems and solutions with impact on longer term strategic objectives.

Design Lead Manager – Embodiment Team, Horizon Platform Responsibilities:

• Hire, mentor and manage a small design team that consistently delivers on projects and is well-balanced across the different design skill sets.
• Responsible for overall team performance and health, resource allocation, project prioritization, and building a culture of design excellence.
• Lead and oversee the user experience of a product from conception to launch in partnership with product managers, engineers, UX researchers and content strategists
• Take broad, conceptual ideas and turn them into something useful and valuable for people using our products
• Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the product and executive teams
• Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies
• Drive planning, strategy and vision on key priorities across cross-functional teams
• Oversee the end-to-end design (user flows, interaction, visual, etc.) across multiple products and projects
• Present designs, prototypes and concepts to cross functional partners and stakeholders
• Clearly articulate design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders across Reality Labs and Meta
  
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience in Product Design
• 2+ years of design leadership experience with direct reports under your guidance and leadership
• 6+ years of experience working collaboratively with product, engineering, design, content and user research teams
• Experience building and shipping applications or software across a variety of platforms
• Experience leading product direction and strategic thinking with the experience developing product goals, identify opportunities, and make decisions based on the impact to people and the company
• Experience representing work to a broader product team and other leaders, clearly and succinctly articulating the goals and concepts
• A portfolio that demonstrates relevant work, an understanding of best practices in product design and a track record of shipping high-quality products.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in AR and VR environments
• UI/Interaction development experience in a 3D product
• Experience with delivering 0-1 products from concept stages to launch
• Experience working on large scale, complex projects across multiple org pillars
