Position Description
General Atlantic is hiring an Event Associate to join our global Marketing & Communications team based in New York, NY.
This position is seeking a driven and detail-oriented individual whose primary responsibilities include planning and management of a wide range of events to support the broader General Atlantic platform, ideally having previous strategic and financial events experience.
The successful candidate will be solutions-oriented, highly motivated and a proactive self-starter. The individual will need to be able to make quick decisions, be creative and manage multiple events at the same time. S/he should possess outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, event technology software knowledge and strong written communication skills.
S/he will work with General Atlantic’s global Marketing & Communications team and senior leaders to drive the firm’s global events strategy and have an interest in developing deep event planning expertise in the private equity industry.
Responsibilities
- Partner with and support the firm’s Global Head of Events in planning and coordinating of corporate events. Including but not limited to meeting space and room block management, negotiation of supplier services and contract administration, budgeting and forecasting, technology and audio-visual management, website and event deliverables, and vendor relationship management
- Work with various groups across regions and sectors to determine needs and target audiences, enhancing existing event opportunities and developing new ones, as appropriate
- Support the Marketing & Communications team for all event communication (internal/external) and event materials, including development of creative branded invitations and collateral for events
- Organize and update event contracts, invoices, and venue/restaurant documents.
- Attend and oversee the execution of events as needed
- Assist in managing the GA brand presence both in promotions and on site, messaging, design, signage, collateral, etc. Ensure all branding and design adheres to firm’s brand standards, working in partnership with the Marketing & Communications team
- Scout venues and develop and manage relationships with vendors; negotiate contracts and pricing
- Work closely with the Head of Events and various internal partners to set yearly event calendar and manage all benchmarks
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Two to five years of experience in event coordinating or corporate events. Financial services / professional services exposure preferred
- Strong project and event management experience
- Proven ability to take initiative, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and maintain acute attention to detail
- Outstanding organizational skills, ability to follow through, and capable of meeting deadlines while balancing multiple projects and priorities
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Solutions oriented, highly motivated, and proactive self-starter
- Team orientation and ability to collaborate across teams, regions and functions
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external contacts at a variety of levels
