Senior Systems Engineer, Identity and Access Management
We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Systems Engineer, Identity and Access Management to join our growing IT team. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and integrating IAM solutions that ensure secure access to our systems and data. Your expertise in directory services, authentication protocols, and automation will be critical in ensuring the efficiency and security of our IT infrastructure.
What You'll Do:
- Be the IAM expert: Design, implement, and maintain secure and efficient Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions across our IT infrastructure. This includes directory services, authentication systems, and access control mechanisms
- Champion automation: Streamline user provisioning, de-provisioning, and access management processes through automation scripts and workflows. Improve efficiency and minimize manual errors
- Integrate and optimize: Ensure seamless integration of IAM systems with existing IT infrastructure, applications, and cloud services. This involves working with APIs, various authentication protocols (e.g., SAML, OAuth), as well as cloud IAM solutions like GCI
- Troubleshoot and support: Provide expert technical support for IAM-related issues, resolving complex problems and ensuring system stability and performance
- Share your knowledge: Contribute to the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for IAM systems and processes
- Collaborate effectively: Work closely with other IT teams, security teams, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment of IAM solutions with business needs and security requirements
What We're Looking For:
- IAM Expertise: 7+ years of proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing and integrating Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions in a complex IT environment
- Technical Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience with directory services (Active Directory, LDAP), authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect), and access control models
- Automation Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Python to automate IAM tasks and workflows
- Cloud IAM Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud-based identity solutions (Azure AD, GCI or similar) is highly desirable
- Security Mindset: A solid understanding of security best practices related to IAM, including authentication, authorization, and access control
- Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various IT teams, security personnel, and business stakeholders
We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:
- DevOps mindset: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and configuration management tools (like Ansible, Chef, or Terraform) would be a major plus, demonstrating the ability to automate and manage IAM infrastructure efficiently
- Security certifications: Holding relevant security certifications like CISSP, CISM, or CCSP
- Experience with advanced IAM concepts: Familiarity with concepts like Zero Trust security, risk-based authentication, and identity governance frameworks

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.
This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.

Salary:
The estimated salary range for this position is $129,470 to $179,820.
Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
