Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience negotiating and structuring agreements or leading business development.
  • Experience with any of the following: site selection for high-technology, industrial-scale projects, real estate evaluation, acquisition, development, and construction.

Preferred qualifications:

  • JD degree, MBA, or other relevant professional certification, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Experience with a range of economic development issues such as indirect taxes, economic development policy, or infrastructure development.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally while coming up with commercially and technically creative solutions.

As Google's products and services grow to serve our billions of users, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future. It's a big job that involves everything from operating underwater cables to finding data center space. In this role you combine your deep market knowledge with tech industry savvy to find solutions that support Google's growth. You'll work with specific teams to oversee vendor and partner relationships. Your successful management skills have the potential to impact every part of the business and save Google millions of dollars in operating costs. You'll ensure that we receive contract compliance on our third-party agreements, while identifying the most cost-effective solutions for our needs. You'll take lead on special projects, manage vendors and present your recommendations to Google leadership.

As a Market Analyst, you will combine your economic development and industry knowledge to support Google’s infrastructure growth. You will support the cost effective development of Google Data Centers by providing data driven insights into location specific taxes, costs, and economic development tools. You will partner with cross-functional teams to drive technical analysis, develop and implement economic development location evaluation tools.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day execution of programmatic economic development plans, researching technical elements of statutory and discretionary programs, and supporting cost analysis of ongoing data center development projects. You will be responsible for further entrenching economic development best practices within an organization experiencing rapid growth, serving as a subject matter expert on tax, incentive law and opportunity, and negotiations in complex agreements.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $139,000-$207,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research on state and local tax structures, analyzing their implications for businesses.
  • Serve as the primary resource person for statutory and discretionary economic development programs, overseeing and assisting in location-specific cost, tax, and financial analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute technical and cost analyses.
  • Design and implement tools for evaluating economic development programs.
  • Provide support for the drafting and negotiation of legal and commercial agreements, managing the day-to-day execution of economic development plans.
