What you'll do:
The Operations team is responsible for running the day-to-day operations of a new bank using a cutting-edge core banking platform to provide the best possible experience for our clients. With this addition, we seek to add even deeper knowledge of banking operations processes, regulations, and preferably, the core banking system, FIS. This is an essential role in our growing organization, ensuring that the bank provides best in class services and business tools to our clients. You will help define the future of better banking through this role and its impact on the organization.
- The Operations Officer will assist the Operations Director to oversee daily banking operations activities that include: check processing, non-post items, deposits, loan operations, account transactions, wires, ACH and SWIFT payments, reporting, callback, and reconciliations. Collaborates with two Team Leads to oversee a team of 10 employees.
- You will help in managing and assisting the Operations team on a daily basis. You will also work with the Operations Director and CRO to help establish a set of KPIs for Operations and participate in the review and recommendation of operational systems and procedures, their implementation and ensuring any changes or recommendations have been implemented as directed.
- You will help to ensure that the systems in use meet the daily requirements of the Operations department by overseeing the parameter settings.
- This is a hands-on position. As a community bank, Grasshopper requires that you be willing to assist in the daily activities where required.
What you need:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a member of an Operations team, with preference given to candidates with prior management experience including interviewing, hiring, and training staff.
- At least 2 years of experience assisting with assessments and audits to ensure departmental procedures achieve accurate and desired outcomes.
- Comprehensive understanding of systems, controls, and processes for wire transfers (FRB and SWIFT), ACH, checks, and all payment rails related to banking.
- Thorough understanding of check processing, including inclearing, deposits, returns, and fraud management.
- Knowledge of all federal and state banking regulations to implement operational policies and procedures compliant with federal regulations and internal requirements.
- Familiarity with ACH rules surrounding processing, origination, and returns. AAP Certification is considered advantageous.
- Knowledge of fundamental risk management principles.
- Experience in drafting and implementing departmental policies and procedures.
- Capability to customize and implement banking software is preferred.
- Knowledge of the FIS system is advantageous.
