Job Description

Gunderson Dettmer has an opening for a temporary Attorney Development Assistant to support the Attorney Development team in all efforts relating to attorney training and development. This position is within the Attorney Talent group led by the firm’s Chief Talent Officer. This assignment will be based in the New York office and is anticipated to last approximately six months.

The Attorney Development Assistant will assist in coordinating all attorney development initiatives and related programs, including:
  • Firm-wide and practice group substantive trainings
  • Continuing Legal Education
  • Performance management
  • Attorney onboarding
  • Mentoring
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Handle the department calendars and identifying potential conflicts with other firm events.
  • Provide administrative support for the firm’s learning and education programming and events organized by the Attorney Development team, including coordinating logistics in collaboration with IT and other departments.
  • Assist with managing the invoicing and vendor agreement processes for the Attorney Development team ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
  • Maintain Attorney Development databases (e.g., the firm’s document management system, viAderant databases, etc.)
  • Help with the collection and analysis of feedback regarding in-house and external training seminars and recommend program enhancements based on feedback;
  • Provide documentation needed for MCLE compliance and Accredited MCLE Provider requirements as directed by the firm’s MCLE team.
  • Assist with performance evaluation process and other modalities for providing feedback to associates and counsel.
  • Collaborate with Recruiting and Attorney Development team members and other firm business operations leaders on attorney orientation and integration to enhance processes and materials and ensure smooth transitions.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Director and other Attorney Development team members, support programming for the Firm’s mentoring program;
  • Collaborate with Attorney Development team and other departments across the firm to evaluate and enhance firm processes and systems for greater efficiency and quality.
  • Develop and maintain data analytics systems to support all of the initiatives above.
  • Work on special department or firm projects as needed.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Has at least one year of professional development, recruiting, human resources or administrative experience in a law firm, preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • The ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possesses excellent written, organizational and communication skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately.
  • Is a self-starter who takes initiative and is able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exhibits sound judgment, the ability to foster an inclusive work environment and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
Status
  • Temporary, Non-Exempt.
The expected pay rate for this position is $30 - $36 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
