Your role and responsibilities

IBM’s Global Affairs organization shapes how the world understands IBM. We define and protect IBM’s brand, advance the company’s reputation, and bring IBM’s strategy, innovation, values, and market leadership to life. Our work helps IBM earn trust, strengthen brand consideration, influence priority audiences, and create clarity around the company’s point of view in the market.

As a Skills, Strategy, Operations, and Transformation Intern, you will be part of a dynamic group that drives strategic initiatives, performance optimization, acceleration of key projects, readiness for future challenges, and knowledge sharing across the organization. This role is designed to provide you with broad exposure to various functions within the Skills, Strategy, Operations, and Transformation space, allowing you to develop versatile skills and contribute to meaningful projects.

Key Responsibilities Could Include:

  • Strategy Development: Assist in the formulation and execution of strategic plans that align with IBM's business objectives. Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute to the development of innovative strategies.
  • Performance Analysis: Support the analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of various initiatives. Prepare reports and presentations that highlight performance insights and recommendations.
  • Transformation & Enablement: Participate in initiatives to simplify and automate processes and workflows. Assist in creating education materials to enable the organization to develop new ways of working.
  • Talent Development: Collaborate on the design and delivery of programs that help foster career development across all levels of the organization.
  • Operations: Support planning and tracking of resources across the organization to ensure optimal alignment with strategic priorities.

This role is for a Summer 2027 internship, expected to begin on Monday, May 24, 2027, and end on Friday, August 13, 2027. Roles are based in New York, NY. We work in a hybrid environment, and interns are expected to come into the office at least three days per week.

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited University
  • Available for an internship in Summer 2027
  • Rising senior for the 2027-2028 school year
  • Fluent in English
  • Analytical Skills: Curiosity, problem-solving skills, and the ability to turn data and research into insights.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to create clear and concise reports and presentations.
  • Project Management: Basic understanding of project management principles.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Comfortable working with groups of different backgrounds and skills to enable collaboration.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Basic knowledge of analytical tools
  • A strategic, consultative, data-driven mindset

OTHER RELEVANT JOB DETAILS

Supplemental 1 employees may be eligible for up to 8 paid holidays, minimum of 56 hours paid sick time and the IBM Employee Stock Purchase Plan. IBM offers paid family medical leave and disability benefits to eligible employees where required by applicable law.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
