Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Research at Albany Nanotech is currently seeking for a process Technician. Technicians will provide on-site equipment or tool support in fabrication (fab) unit. As a technician, you will be supporting semiconductor tools by collaborating with equipment vendors, fab operations, unit process, and management teams. To accomplish this, you will be using web based statistical process control charts, SiView to collect the wafer history and related data, and web based software to analyze the contamination, particles, and deposition film data available from the wafers. Typical support includes – unscheduled tool down situation, experimental runs, scheduled engineering work, scheduled fab facility or vendor work, scheduled tool install, and scheduled modification or upgrades. In the above mentioned support, as a technician you will be supporting tool recoveries, monitor wafer qualification, and communications with operations team until the tool is coded up for production. In addition, you will use information on tool and Siview software to disposition force completed wafers.
Job duties include
1.) Own daily equipment execution –resolve wafer/lot force completes – look at equipment logs, assess the alarm, and communicate to engineering team for disposition.
2.) Analyze particle level or metal contamination or etch rate or deposition rate failure, organize wafer maps and elemental information, document and share with engineering team – Address any other manufacturing concern
3.) Create and track statistical process control (SPC) or control charts to highlight trends and potential excursions to engineering team
4.) Hands on fab support. Support experiments, engineering work on equipment and the operations baseline for advanced semiconductor technology development
5.) Attend operations meetings as needed to provide update on tools
6.) Create equipment recipes.
7.) Co-work with Equipment/tool owner to manage recipe requests, request equipment monitors, place tool inhibits or exceptions, maintain equipment operating procedure, protect fab from excursions

On-site Work shift: This job requires candidate to work on-site on alternate work shift. Week 1 (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat – 7am to 7pm each day) & Week 2 (Sun, Wed, Thu – 7am to 7pm each day).


Required Technical and Professional Expertise
– Strong teamwork skills
– Good management of time and available resources
– Strong verbal and written communication skills
– Strong computer skills, Microsoft office – word, excel, ppt…
– Associate degree in chemistry, physics, or engineering


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
– Fab experience
– Equipment troubleshooting skills
– Knowledge of or ability to learn SiView, web-based specification process controls
