Introduction

Are you a seasoned event leader with a passion for driving innovative, outcome-focused marketing initiatives? If so, we are looking for a Manager, Americas Marketing Events to lead a team and help us shape the future of event marketing.

Your role and responsibilities

As the Manager, Americas Marketing Events, you will focus on:

  1. Event Planning and Execution:
    • Lead a team of event strategists who own and optimize events to meet business objectives based on stakeholder feedback
    • Partner with key stakeholders, including top account marketing and field marketing teams, to define event objectives and target audiences
    • Design client experiences within the client journey, including messaging and curriculum scope and sequence
    • Ensure sales alignment and seamless event execution in collaboration with field marketing
    • Manage post-event outcomes and performance metrics with relevant stakeholder
    • Oversee end-to-end event processes and tools, ensuring compliance with legal, finance, and data privacy requirements
  2. Strategic Event Leadership:
    • Operate at a strategic level, focusing on business outcomes, ROI, and long-term audience engagement.
    • Set strategic event visions and lead event strategists to maximize ROI and meet goals.
    • Drive innovation in event planning, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and audience engagement strategies.
  3. Compliance and Optimization:
    • Ensure 100% compliance with audit, legal, and technology requirements.
    • Streamline processes and drive efficiency across event planning tools and technologies.
    • Develop financial strategies for event planning and advocate for a culture of optimization.
  1. Audience Engagement:
    • Lead the organization's overall approach to event audience engagement, advocating for innovation and measurable outcomes.
    • Cultivate key relationships, strategic partnerships, and sponsorships to enhance brand building and customer satisfaction.

Skills and Competencies

  • Event Marketing Expertise: Deep understanding of IBM Event Marketing processes, strategy, and tools. Ability to support senior strategists and manage event elements independently.
  • Leadership & Networking: Proven ability to lead teams, guide management, and foster alignment for broader business outcomes.
  • Communication & Problem-Solving: Recognized as a thought leader with strong communication skills and innovative problem-solving abilities.
  • Project Management: Expert project planner with the ability to prioritize and execute stretch assignments across teams.
  • Financial Acumen: Skilled in defining event budget strategies, analyzing financial data, and making data-driven decisions.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional ability to organize and build strategic event plans focusing on business objectives.

Leaders are expected to spend time with their teams and clients and therefore are generally expected to be in the workplace a minimum of three days a week, subject to business needs.

  • 10+ years of experience in event planning and execution.
  • Experience managing a team
  • Proficiency in leading event tools like RainFocus.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-million-dollar event budgets.
