As an Assistant General Counsel in the Fair and Responsible Banking practice group, you will play a crucial role in advising on legal, regulatory, and compliance matters related to ADA, accessibility, and EVP laws. You will work closely with business and legal clients to ensure compliance and protect the rights of our customers.

This role provides the opportunity to lead initiatives that help safeguard elder and vulnerable customers, author and interpret policies, and collaborate with global leaders to establish coherent accessibility standards. You will be at the forefront of addressing accessibility considerations linked to technologies and legislative developments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Advise firmwide on legal, regulatory, and compliance matters related to ADA, accessibility, and EVP laws.
  • Direct key partners in evaluating ADA accommodation requests and formulating effective responses.
  • Advise on initiatives aimed at protecting elder and vulnerable customers from financial exploitation.
  • Author and interpret ADA- and EVP-related policies and standards.
  • Guide responses to regulatory inquiries and facilitate impact assessments.
  • Collaborate with Government Relations on legislative developments and compliance.
  • Draft, negotiate, and refine contractual provisions related to digital technology compliance.
  • Partner to address accessibility issues in JPMC branch construction and maintenance.
  • Counsel on laws related to supported decision-making agreements.
  • Establish connections with global leaders to exchange best practices.
  • Provide coherent accessibility standards across international operations.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • JD or educational equivalent, with compliance with relevant attorney licensing requirements.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of legal or equivalent experience, preferably in financial regulatory environments.
  • Familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act and related state laws.
  • Experience in protections for elder and vulnerable individuals against financial exploitation.
  • Strong analytical acumen and superior organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority issues and work effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to ethical legal practice and resilience in a dynamic environment.
  • Successful completion of a conflicts of interest clearance review.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Experience in consumer banking and consumer financial services laws.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex legal nuances across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience in advising on accessibility considerations linked to technologies.
  • Proven track record in collaborating with government relations on legislative developments.
  • Strong negotiation skills in drafting contractual provisions related to digital technology.
  • Experience in establishing global accessibility standards.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while addressing emergent legal issues.
