As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Technology division, you will apply your expertise in JavaScript to support our web frameworks team. You will lead efforts in refactoring, debugging, and developing new features for internal documentation sites and tools, enhancing business process efficiency. Collaborate closely with designers, Product, QA, and fellow developers to ensure precise implementation. This role offers the opportunity to work onsite in New York, contributing to innovative projects in a dynamic environment.
Job responsibilities
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
- Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
- Lay the strategy for and train teams in the "You Build It, You Run It" (YBIYRI) model, promoting ownership and accountability for the entire lifecycle of the software.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on Software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Knowledge and experience working with popular front-end JavaScript frameworks, like React and Angular
- Knowledge and experience in ES6+
- Understanding of modern design patterns used in JavaScript
- Knowledge and experience working with HTML5
- Knowledge and experience working with CSS and popular precompilers, like Sass and LESS, and/or popular CSS-in-JS solutions like Vanilla Extract
- Knowledge and experience using popular build tools, like Webpack and Vite
- Knowledge and experience in TDD and modern testing frameworks that support it, like Mocha and Jest
- Understanding of source control and experience working with modern tools that support it, such as Git
- Knowledge and experience in TypeScript
- Understanding UX design concepts like responsive web design
- Familiarity and experience working in an Agile environment
- Understanding and experience using CI/CD tools
