Job Description

Sports Finance Group Overview: The Private Bank Sports Finance Group team extends credit solutions to professional sports teams and their owners across the five major North American sports leagues, having provided advice and execution for more than 60 team owners. Debt is typically used for acquisition financing, stadium construction financing or general working capital purposes. The team is deeply involved in structuring the transaction, supporting underwriters with analysis, advising the client, negotiating with league officials, leading syndications and running the end-to-end process from the initial pitch to closing a deal. The Sports Finance Group is a subset of the PB Lending Solutions group, which provides credit solutions across a variety of needs to a range of high net worth individuals, their family offices, and their organizations. The group also partners closely with the sports banking teams in other lines of business.

Job Responsibilities:

As a Lending Solutions Analyst within our Sports Finance Group, you will work with our bankers and lending advisors across the U.S. to bring in new clients and to serve existing clients. We work with our clients to raise debt and access liquidity for a variety of corporate and personal purposes. Specific responsibilities for the role include:

  • Analyze client’s needs and objectives through individual and corporate financial statement analysis
  • Provide lending solutions to assure that pricing carefully balances market, return, and overall client objectives
  • Support regional integrated teams in understanding optimal borrowing solutions for clients
  • Monitor current credit book including portfolio management, covenant monitoring and risk grading
  • Work with lending advisors and credit executives to understand risk appetite of the firm and adjust deal flow and structure accordingly
  • Participate in structuring and negotiating transactions, coordinate preparation of lending documentation and transaction execution
  • Prepare detailed credit analysis presentations for internal deal evaluation and approval pitches
  • Assist with broader strategic initiatives related to the business (e.g. impact of key industry risks on portfolio, annual portfolio reviews, etc.)
  • Liaise with the integrated teams, credit executives, underwriting partners and key sports-focused stakeholders in other LOBs to manage the end-to-end internal credit process
  • Coordinate and manage ongoing reporting of Lending Solutions programs including product marketing, pipeline progress, banker scorecards
  • As you progress in your role, you will assume significant responsibility by interacting frequently with senior management and working directly with clients

Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:

We seek candidates with a unique blend of interpersonal and analytical skills. Private Banking Analysts efficiently leverage both qualitative and quantitative resources to understand complex financial situations and present solutions. Specific qualifications include:

  • Superior skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including the ability to build complex spreadsheets and create professional presentations
  • Superior multi-tasking and organizational skills amidst faced-past work environment
  • Excellent communication skills and poise giving presentations
  • Demonstrated aptitude for sales and client relationship management
  • Genuine interest in sports, financial markets and macro-level economic trends
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles
  • The ability to be a dynamic member of a team
  • Strong initiative, energy and confidence in completing projects with limited supervision
  • Good judgment and discretion working with highly confidential information
