As a Data Scientist Lead, Vice President on the Payments Instrumentation and Metrics Analytics team, you will be at the forefront of developing data solutions that drive business impact. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring data-driven analysis and automated reporting, shape group strategy, assess opportunities, and measure progress against key objectives. This role is a mix of data science, consulting (problem solving, thought leadership, client management), and product management across the development and implement lifecycle for product analytics solutions. Overall, this role presents an opportunity to apply analytics and strategy skills to a broad range of challenges, learn about financial services lines of business and products (e.g., payments, banking, and digital), gain exposure to cutting edge technologies (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, Streamlit, ThoughtSpot, Sigma ,Python, Alteryx and Tableau) and methods, and communicate insights to a wide range of stakeholders and leadership audiences.
The Payments Instrumentation and Metrics team, works with top providers of payment, fraud management, and data security solutions, supporting transactions in over 130 currencies. The Payments I&M team, comprised of data scientists, design strategists, and business leaders, crafts data products that transform business operations. Job responsibilities
- Automating analyses into dashboards and analytics products used across Payments Transformation product teams and senior-level management reporting to enhance the customer experience at scale
- Conducting quantitative analysis to identify strategic, actionable opportunities for the Payments Transformation Product business
- Working with large data sets to conduct analyses that include scoping, gathering, wrangling, and visualization
- Supporting the prototyping of machine learning algorithms, communicating analytical results to various audiences, and assessing new data sources and techniques
- Adhering to standards of excellence of the team by demonstrating professional expertise, strong work ethic, integrity, and professional behavior
- Develop and implement data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Extract and understand data to form an opinion on how to best help our clients and derive relevant insights.
- Resolve issues and remove barriers that hinder analytics initiatives.
- Create metrics to measure the impact and effectiveness of investments in new products or enhancements of existing products.
- Deliver tactical and strategic product and market insights through analytics, reporting and state of the art visualization techniques.
- Organize and manage multiple projects with diverse cross-functional stakeholders at once.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Consulting orientation with ability to influence cross-functional teams
- Self-starter with out-of-the box quantitative and qualitative problem solving skills
- Strong time management skills, with ability to multi-task and keep multiple tracks of analysis moving, and drive to bring new ideas to life
- Strong SQL programming skills optimizing to handle extremely large data sets
- Strong experience with one or more major data visualization tools including Tableau, ThoughSpot, Alteryx .
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills with experience communicating effectively with diverse audiences across business and technology
- Communicating data-driven insights and conveying actionable recommendations.
- Managing analytics/data science projects from scoping to delivery, and engaging with stakeholders
- Ability to work autonomously while providing regular status updates and meeting objectives.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 4+ years of experience in a consulting or industry position supporting a data or reporting function
- Deep understanding of the financial services or Payments industry
- Experience using machine learning techniques and advanced analytics (e.g. regression, classification, clustering, time series, causal inference, and natural language processing)
- Experience building data applications using Streamlit/ThoughtSpot
- Experience building data visualizations using Tableau
- Experience using data warehousing tools, specifically Snowflake or Databricks
