Job summary
As an Analyst on the CAG Consulting Team, you will work closely with hedge fund clients to address key business challenges, providing end-to-end support from start-up assistance to ongoing advisory services. Based in New York, London, or Hong Kong, you’ll leverage your industry knowledge and analytical skills to deliver impactful solutions across trading, operations, technology, and risk management. You’ll play a critical role in helping clients manage growth, optimize infrastructure, and implement best practices.

Start Ups Services

Help prepare start up materials used by a cross a functional pitch team and provide consulting services during the sales process to assist clients and prospects in launching a new fund.

  • Provide advisory services for network / systems architecture and build out including (mobile technology, private cloud solution, cyber security, hardware, telephony technology (PBX, turrets & VoIP) and BCP and DR considerations
  • Provide new hedge fund managers with budgeting and cash flow templates, vendor introduction and analysis to create best of breed investment platforms, advise on best practices for creating internal policies and procedures, and help with infrastructure and office space needs

Advisory Services

For existing funds that reach inflection points in their business life cycle

  • Provide business consulting advice to hedge fund managers across non-investment functional areas (Middle & Back Operations, Risk Management, Portfolio & Partnership Accounting, Legal, Compliance, HR & Administration etc.)
  • Educate and act as a knowledge source to assist managers in preparation for operational due diligence process and when dealing with DDQs
  • Perform operational benchmarking and best practice reviews focused on non-investment areas for CFOs, COOs, CTOs & COOs
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for the management and execution of client events and a thought leader in the industry.
  • Identify & investigate vendors and manage ongoing relationships for both technology and service providers (act as a proctor and liaison to clients as appropriate; track and manage all vendor updates)

Job responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end start-up assistance and consulting services to hedge fund clients and prospects.
  • Advise on infrastructure and technology solutions, including network architecture, cybersecurity, and business continuity planning.
  • Deliver organizational best practice reviews and operational benchmarking for non-investment functions.
  • Support clients with budgeting, cash flow templates, vendor selection, and internal policy development.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in trading, accounting, risk management, operations technology, and the hedge fund space.
  • Manage and execute client events, and serve as a thought leader within the industry.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with technology and service vendors.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 1 year of experience in the alternative investment industry or capital markets.
  • Working knowledge of trading, operations, business development, risk management, or technology infrastructure.
  • Ability to work with market research and survey data.
  • Strong data mining, manipulation, and analysis skills for content creation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to apply AI for data construction.
  • Proven ability to interact with senior-level staff in a business development environment.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple, time-sensitive projects while maintaining high quality.
  • BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, or Information Technology.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience with portfolio accounting, partnership accounting, order management (OMS), risk management, collateral management, and data warehouse systems.
  • Familiarity with regulations and rules governing the hedge fund industry (SEC, CFTC).
  • Experience with regulatory compliance is a plus.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, CAIA, PMP, MTA, MCSE are a plus.
