Data Product Owner, Private Markets Data Products and Domain Governance (ED)
Job summary
As a Data Product Owner in Asset Management Private Markets at the Executive Director level, you will lead a multi‑business portfolio of data products and own domain‑wide data governance and value realization. You will set strategy and guardrails, orchestrate delivery across multiple teams, and ensure products are brought live with strong production readiness, launch discipline, and adoption. You will enable Product Owners to deliver business solutions, and will partner closely with the LOB Chief Data Office, Architecture, Risk, Compliance, and business leaders to advance the domain’s target state and ensure resilient, well‑governed data products.
Job responsibilities
• Set unified roadmap and vision for Private Markets data products and domain strategy, aligned to clear outcomes and KPIs; define operating guardrails and standards.
• Lead discovery across businesses to harmonize workflows and data needs; partner with UX and Engineering to validate solutions and ensure scalable delivery patterns.
• Prioritize the multi‑team backlog using objective value frameworks; manage dependencies, non‑functional requirements, and timelines across squads and partner teams.
• Establish agile‑driven UAT and control testing for data products; oversee day‑to‑day delivery at scale, triage, issue resolution, and defect management through Product Owners.
• Communicate progress and value through executive‑level readouts, demos, and transparent OKR/KPI scorecards; drive accountability for outcomes.
• Define and maintain the data domain’s target architecture and boundaries with the LOB Chief Data Office and lead data architects; guide migration from legacy sources of record to strategic SORs on credible timelines.
• Own domain artifacts including data dictionaries, business data quality rules, lineage documentation, and metadata/catalog entries; enforce consistent vocabularies and standards.
• Serve as escalation path for cross‑team dependencies; drive timely decisions across Architecture, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to keep launches on track.
• Participate in and influence governance forums to manage domain changes; collaborate with other Data Owners to ensure integration, integrity, secure access, and boundary enforcement.
• Orchestrate integration with upstream systems (deal, portfolio, fund accounting, CRM) and downstream consumers (reporting, investor communications, risk, finance); ensure resiliency and operational readiness.
Required qualifications, skills and capabilities
• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of industry experience in data‑related roles; significant exposure to Asset Management and Private Markets.
• Proven success leading complex, cross‑business programs and data governance initiatives; ability to set standards and drive adoption across multiple teams.
• Demonstrated experience launching enterprise data products and platforms, including production readiness, controls sign‑offs, cutover, support models, and adoption.
• Executive‑level communication and stakeholder management; adept at reconciling competing priorities and driving alignment across senior leaders.
• Deep expertise in data management and governance: data modeling, ETL/ELT, data quality and controls, reference/MDM, metadata and lineage, data contracts and versioning.
• Technical understanding of cloud data platforms, data architecture, APIs, and resiliency patterns; comfortable with SQL/profiling and defining business‑relevant metrics.
• Excellent leadership skills in managing products, programs, and teams; structured thinker and effective communicator who can crisply articulate complex concepts to senior audiences.
Preferred qualifications, skills and capabilities
• Subject matter expertise in Private Markets data domains (capital calls/distributions, waterfalls, NAV and performance, investor/fund entities, deal and portfolio data).
• Experience with operating model design, controls, resiliency, and data governance in enterprise contexts.
• Exposure to modern data stacks (cloud data warehouse/lakehouse, streaming, orchestration, transformation tooling), data catalogs/lineage solutions, and API product management.
• Experience enabling self‑service analytics through semantic layers or metrics stores; comfort with BI/reporting ecosystems.
• High aptitude with agile collaboration tools (e.g., Confluence, JIRA).
