Derivative Collateral Analyst

As a Margin and Collateral Analyst, you will monitor JPMorgan Private Banking credit exposures, manage secured credit transactions, ensure regulatory compliance is met on a daily basis which are the basis for protecting the bank from potential losses.

The Private Banking (PB) Operations team monitors all JPMorgan PB exposures (loans, OTC derivatives, and brokerage margin loans) secured by financial (equities, fixed income, etc) and other asset types. They manage intraday transactions and exceptions related to secured credit facilities and pledged collateral. The Operations team is also responsible for global reporting and analytics for portfolio reviews, collateral concentrations (industry, security, and country, emerging markets), shortfall trends, derivative exposures, issuer risk, and problem assets. Additionally, the team is responsible for ensuring compliance with certain covenant requirements, including escalation where needed. The functions performed by this team are critical to protecting the bank from potential credit losses.

Job responsibilities

  • Review and understand new agreement terms and documentation.
  • Set-up agreement terms regarding collateral in credit systems for ongoing monitoring.
  • Monitor collateral daily and identify non-compliant scenarios. Confirm the accuracy and escalate to Credit and Bankers for resolution plan and date determination.
  • Manage regulatory related initiatives to resolve control gaps and enhance current processes for further efficiency and effectiveness as needed.
  • Provide implementation support, including testing of new tools / processes to ensure they meet requirements for all projects that impact Collateral CRM Operations regulatory functions.
  • Validate and issue margin calls to Financial Advisors.
  • Manage third party pledge scenarios.
  • Manage initiatives to resolve control gaps and enhance current processes for further efficiency and effectiveness as needed.
  • Provide analysis concerning portfolio as needed.
  • Review and validate collateral requirements for OTC derivatives including option strategies
  • Manage inquiries from Bankers, Brokers, Lenders, Client Services on margin lending topics.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Minimum of two years working experience in a derivatives or collateral group focused on supporting prime brokerage relationships, institutional or high net worth client base.
  • Strong interest in derivative products and strategies
  • Detailed, analytical and results orientation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must be able to manage day to day work in addition to managing multiple projects
  • Consistently demonstrates accountability and responsibility for their actions and results
  • High-level of proficiency in organizing, prioritizing, and managing issues
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • BA/BS or equivalent in a business field

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Solid Knowledge of Lending Regulations and Practices a plus
  • Other Microsoft applications and AI skills a plus
