As a Athlete Segment Events, Sponsorships, and Talent Management Vice President within J.P. Morgan Wealth Management, you will lead the operational management and execution of our Athlete Event Programming and Talent Management initiatives. In addition, you will work in close partnership with the segment leader, who retains overall strategic oversight and vision. You will also be responsible for leading day-to-day activities, cultivating relationships with athlete talent and their agents, and delivering impactful events, thought leadership, and sponsorships that strengthen our brand and value proposition among athletes. You will also collaborate closely with the segment leader to co-develop and refine the annual plan for athlete events, sponsorships, and talent initiatives, ensuring alignment with the overall vision and objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Evaluate and recommend which events, sponsorships, and partnerships to pursue or prioritize, providing rationale for selections and trade-offs; partner with the event content team to develop thought leadership for speaking engagements, and coordinate pre-, during-, and post-event materials to maximize audience engagement; manage sponsorships and partnerships that enhance the firm’s presence in the athlete community.
  • Take ownership of the allocated budget, building and managing a comprehensive plan that maximizes impact and meets strategic goals; work with internal partners across marketing, communications, content, PR, and the business to ensure all efforts are integrated and support the overall objectives.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and adjust plans as needed to optimize resource allocation and outcomes; oversee execution of all athlete-related programs, partners, and athlete agents, ensuring seamless coordination of activities, meetings, and schedules.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for athlete talent, their agents, PR representatives, and other stakeholders, facilitating communications and logistics; lead the planning and delivery of athlete-focused events, networking opportunities, and summits.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams on contract needs, and enforce/monitor policies related to talent usage; work with marketing, communications, and external partners to curate content and amplify the impact of managed programs.
  • Ensure calls-to-action (CTAs) are directed to appropriate parties and follow the established operating model, maintaining a continuous feedback loop.
  • Take the lead in preparing and presenting program recaps to leadership, showcasing successes, learnings, and actionable recommendations based on feedback and outcomes.
  • Track program performance, analyze key metrics, and provide regular updates to the segment leader, identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within the initiative and monitor competitor activity and industry insights to inform program development and strategic pivots.
  • Work closely with the segment leader to ensure alignment with the initiative’s strategic vision and broader Wealth Management objectives.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the senior associate on the team, partnering to ensure seamless execution of events and initiatives. While the senior associate will independently own a distinct portion of the events program, the VP will work alongside them to align efforts, share best practices, and maximize overall program impact.
  • Help coordinate efforts across the broader events team where applicable, ensuring consistency and alignment of athlete-related programming within the wider organization; proactively escalate major decisions and strategic matters for guidance and approval.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 7+ years of experience in wealth management, sports management, or related fields.
  • Proven track record in client relationship management, event planning, and program execution.
  • Deep understanding of the athlete ecosystem, including agents, sponsorships, and industry trends.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners.
  • Experience managing contract negotiations.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at project management using relevant tools; deadline-driven.
  • Passion for working with athletes and understanding their unique needs; creative thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
