As an Executive Director within the Commercial and Investment Bank (CIB) Credit Risk team, you will focus on credit analysis and complex credit decisions across a diverse portfolio of insurance clients. You will collaborate closely across the firm and lead change through targeted projects that improve controls and efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage a portion of the North American Insurance portfolio across Life, Property & Casualty, Reinsurance, Brokers, and related financial institutions
- Evaluate and execute complex credit requests for new and existing clients, spanning traditional credit, markets products (derivatives, trading, and financing), payments products, and other credit exposures
- Lead end-to-end execution related to credit requests: diligence, risk grading, credit approval materials, legal documentation negotiation, facility setup, and post-approval monitoring
- Oversee ongoing portfolio management. Demonstrating sound credit judgement and effective risk monitoring through ongoing client diligence and industry analysis conducted in collaboration with partners across other lines of business
- Monitor market, economic, legislative, and regulatory developments affecting the insurance sector; brief stakeholders on client and industry risk profiles, including potential rating impacts
- Build strong relationships and maintain open communication with coverage bankers, product partners, operations, legal, and finance to ensure effective risk monitoring and execution quality
- Lead analytical projects focusing on client and industry risks, and contribute to process and efficiency improvements across Insurance Credit
- Train and mentor junior credit officers, fostering development and growth where appropriate
Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10+ years in commercial and investment banking, credit risk, and portfolio management
- 3+ years of insurance industry expertise
- Proficient in insurance company credit analysis leveraging both GAAP and Statutory accounting frameworks
- Strong understanding of insurance regulatory regimes in the US and Bermuda
- Deep familiarity with corporate banking products, treasury management, capital markets, structured finance, corporate finance, and derivatives, including related documentation; experience negotiating loan and trading documentation is required
- Excellent communication and presentation skills - both written and verbal
- Executive presence and ability to think critically and multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Track record of success coaching, developing and retaining high performing analysts and associates
