Senior Associate Data Scientist
J.P. Morgan
Deliver the next generation of Payments products that combine JPMorgan Payments global payment network and data science as part of our Data & Analytics team. Apply advanced analytical and AI/ML expertise to deliver impactful, client-focused solutions.
As a Data Scientist Senior Associate within the Payments Data & Analytics team, you will partner closely with product teams across our global payments organization to deliver data-driven insights and algorithms across domains like Foreign Exchange ( FX) and Supply Chain Finance. You will contribute to the next generation of Payments and Treasury Services products, drawing on a blend of consulting, data science, and a passion for how we do things better with GenAI. You will work on payments domains like FX — including currency conversion modeling, cross-border payment pattern analysis, FX rate optimization, and client behavior analytics — to drive new product development, GTM strategy, and client outcomes. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners across product, engineering, sales, and risk to define problems, scope solutions, and deliver high-quality analytical models. The team supports both internal and external payment intelligence applications, as well as custom client analytics requests on an ad-hoc basis.
This role is ideal for someone that wants to drive innovative products combining a deep interest in banking and payments, AI and data science.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize end-to-end analytics and models to power data-driven solutions, evaluating and improving performance by identifying bottlenecks in throughput, latency, and resource utilization
- Drive and improve quality across products including validation checks, reconciliation logic, and anomaly detection at the data layer, to ensure the integrity of analytical outputs used for client-facing products and internal decision-making.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to implement data-driven products efficiently to optimize performance and ensure accuracy, cost-discipline, and efficiency across Databricks / cloud environments.
- Develop and maintain analytical models enabling dynamic payment execution and analytics solutions informing our product strategy and client engagement.
- Perform exploratory statistics and data mining across Payments’ data assets to uncover trends, anomalies, and opportunities for product improvements.
- Leverage experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and agentic AI techniques to prototype and deploy generative AI capabilities that enhance analytics workflows. Design and refine prompts to improve AI model performance and align outputs with business goals.
- Architect and own scalable frameworks for AI model integration across business applications, mentoring junior team members on implementation of best practices and ensuring solutions can adapt and expand as the business evolves.
- Monitor AI model performance, identify areas for enhancement, and implement updates to maintain quality and relevance.
- Partner with the FX product team and key stakeholders to translate business needs into well-scoped analytical problem statements and execution plans, with emphasis on FX domain nuances such as multi-currency settlement, corridor-level economics, and regulatory considerations.
- Collaborate across product, engineering, risk, and operations teams on agile squads to deliver comprehensive, data-driven solutions with tangible commercial impact for clients and customers.
- Drive data science and analytics strategies, communicating findings, obstacles, and recommendations to stakeholders to accelerate delivery to market.
